Anyone watch Parenthood, the tv show?

Just caught up with the past 2 episodes…

I totally loved Amber asking her Dad to leave - to protect her Mom. Thank you Parenthood. I knew she was hurting…and was hoping the writers weren’t going to throw a curve and make it that she saw a better side of her dad and wanted them back together. My daughter (22)has recently gotten more interested in the show. Her dad (my ex) had drug issues (probably still has) and she has, in the past couple of years started to see him as he is, and has stopped taking his disappointments in stride. She must be totally feeling amber! Proud of both of them! Glad she has this positive message to watch.

AS for the whole Rachel thing…and Cristina…I can say, though I am not proud of it, if my husband had a hot assistant, who dressed that way I would NOT be comfortable either, and certainly not when I was post partum! And my hubby is totally a stand up guy but you just never know. Arent we always comparing/contrasting ourselves. And yes they are dressing Cristina so totally frumpy and making her look so chubbed out.

Adam is a great character but we have seen over the seasons, his getting frazzled - hitting his breaking point and wanting to retreat…but I never thought this would be the way…and I hate that he walked her to the door…and the hug - nice guy or confused and thinking about “do i want to kiss her or…or not?” I don’t like that he is going to tell Cristina though i understand it with his character that his guilty conscience would get in the way. AFter telling her thoguh they would have to fire Rachel…or else Cristina would have a valid fight…why are you keeping her if she ambushed you and you don’t like her? Though this has sexual harrassment written all over it…we’ll see!

LOVE that drew is finally showing some personality this year! I really like what they have done with his character. He’s adorable. So is Ritter! Glad he may have a shot!

On Zeke telling them how to raise their kid…my FIL would have done that, not the jogging, but the coming over and instructing. He once told me I needed to make sure to cook more dinners for my husband or I would lose him- no kids & I was working 80 hours a week for FIL’s business! So, presumptuous, yes, intrusive, yes, but realistic, possibly.

I have always liked Craig T Nelsen (remember Call it Glory in the mid80s?) and have been uncomfortably noticing how heavy handed his character can be, such that I think of FIL and don’t feel my usual fondness for CTN. Even worse is that he was right about Sydney!

Yes,he was right about Sidney but probably shouldn’t have presented his case in such a heavy handed (insinuating that the parents had failed their child) way. As I teacher of young children, I often see the same situation in real life.

Poor Christina is looking fairly frumpy. Assume this is to accentuate even more the assistant’s sexy look. It does seem a little too over the top…no pun intended:)

Zeke’s heavy-handedness is part of the character. He does it all the time. Sometimes he’s right (as with Sidney), sometimes he’s wrong (as, last year, with Max’s camping trip, and before that in some construction issues with Joel), and sometimes it’s sort of mezzo-mezzo (as with his hostility to Seth this season). And lots of times it’s funny (as with his wheedling to be included in the studio opening party).

Kristina (I think they spell it that way) IS looking a little frumpy, which is hardly unrealistic for the mother of a newborn and an Asperger’s middle-schooler. She is still obviously TV-gorgeous about a quarter-inch below the frump.

Can’t believe no one has bumped this. The ending with Christina hit close to home as a current SAHM.

That’s probably because I was picking up family members at train stations and airports between 10:15 and 11:45 last night. Actual parenthood, so no Parenthood for me until after Thanksgiving.

Best episode in weeks! Love the Christina storyline and Jasmine too. What about the kid who can’t make ends meet (forget her name)? What’s next for her? Prostitution? Porn? Drug dealing?

I wanted to slap Christina. I’d want Rachel gone too but she couldn’t be handling it worse. When she gets on one of her rants and won’t listen, it drives me crazy. She has a naturally whiney voice to boot. I couldn’t be around her for more than a few minutes. I was really hoping the story line wasn’t going towards the tired “wife pushing the husband into the arms of the mistress.” Are they going to hire a nanny? There’s a job for Amber.

^I think Kristina caught herself going down that road and corrected, her decision to do for herself is a strong one imho. she needs to redefine her value, she is showing Adam she can exist out in the world too.

like the Jasmine story line…so sweet how Jabar expressed wanting a home with two parents under the same roof.

I think it’s hard for me to separate Kristina from Monica Potter. My recollection is that I stopped watched Boston Legal because of her. Her voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me so every time she talks, I just want her to stop.

When Christina said, “Are you attracted to me?” and Adam looked like a deer in the headlights, my heart broke for her (notwithstanding the admittedly whiney voice)

What’s really going to tick me off is when she goes back to work and Max goes missing and everyone secretly blames Christina for going back to work.

I thought it was a good episode and am forgiving the sexy receptionist storyline since I think it set up the Christina working storyline. I am hoping the “Amber can’t make ends meet” storyline makes her realize that she really needs to go to college and move home to make that happen. I want Jasmine and Crosby back together. Jabar is so cute! Baby-daddy is a real jerk, but pretty believable. I am glad they aren’t acting desperate and paying her the money.

“What about the kid who can’t make ends meet?” - I’m also thinking she’ll move back with grandparents and start planning again for college.

The writing/acting on this show amazes me. It’s like the writers give the actors the idea and general content for the scene and then have them run with it. It’s just so realistic how they talk all over each other when they are having emotional discussions. The scene with Adam and Christina where she confronts him about having called the studio was just heart-wrencing, it was so realistic!

bumping up, found tonights episode very touching Adam comforting dtr and he & Kristina reconnecting and the closing scene

Yes, I loved the show tonight!

Loved when there was a scheduling glitch and Adam wanted a heads up. Christina said, “Well, next time I’ll just call your secretary.” Perfect.

I don’t know if it was my mood or the actual quality, but I thought last night might have been the best single-episode script for this show yet, or at least in the past couple years. What a celebration of estrogen! (Adam’s, too.) What great fantasy solutions for real-life problems!: Crosby gives a great Casablanca speech, and he does unto others as he wishes they had done unto him. Kristina puts on a little suit and is magically transformed from whiny frump to glamorous clan-chieftain, with the ego-strength to forgive those that trespass against her. And Sarah and Hot For Teacher play a yummy little quirky love scene.

The actors who play Haddie, Max, and BabyMama got to shine again. (Sarah Ramos is really growing into a lovely young woman and excellent actress. I assume I’m going to start seeing her in more parts.) And Joy Bryant and whatever model is playing Rachel got to be really, really pretty. There’s a shocker!

I also loved this whole show. I liked Crosby’s ah-ha moment when he realized that Dr. Joe would probably be a better partner to Jasmine then he would and also a very good father to his son. But, how does Jasmine feel about that??

I also liked that little moment in the car when Adam is yelling at the GPS/Blue Tooth, “Call Christine” and the auto voice said, “Calling Crosby”, over and over. You get the feeling that the writers for this show live normal lives…
