Anyone watch Parenthood, the tv show?

Agreed Mimk, I had the same thought when he got out of the car, “what is going to happen to the kids, especially Max!” and I agree about Mom being annoyed with the kids. She should have been annoyed with her DH for putting the grandkids in that situation.

Clearly one of the writers/producers has had experience with breast cancer. Dare I say it? I do know “who” the doctors are portraying in real life. This theme is not a one trick pony. Two shows are filming at Century City hospital (now out of business)…the vet show and Parenthood.

We discussed the episode after it was over. Mr. Ellebud was unusually sober.

Vending machines: The kids have vending machines at their California Public High School. They used to sell candy, but a couple of years ago they switched to “healthy” alternatives, like baked chips, etc… So I didn’t think that storyline was all that far fetched.

Another week goes by and I try not to bawl my eyes out while watching Parenthood.

One of the most poignant moments for me was the young veteran interacting with Zeke. First it is Luke Cafferty from Friday Night Lights which was a nice surprise. I am all for more FNL members coming on the show. He has really grown up since FNL ended. I personally relate to this storyline since my brother came back from a year in Afghanistan back in January. He is still in the military so isn’t dealing with the unemployment issue but the lack of belonging. I hope that Parenthood can really focus on this storyline.

Another love triangle for Sarah. Reminds me too much of Gilmore Girls sometime but Lauren Graham plays it really well.

Aw, mdem, I thought of your brother during the show knowing you’d be watching.

Sooo excited to see Luke Cafferty make an appearance. I hope he becomes a regular. Any ideas? Maybe a love interest for Amber?

I am soooo rooting for Sarah to get with the photog. I just never liked her with cute Jason Ritter. But, once again, she falls for a “project.”

Excited to see Haddie coming back next week!

liked how Kristina pushed to let Max run for president, seemed her need to simply not change her parenting due to her diagnosis. always find it touching when parents can be who their child needs, despite their own personal struggle.

also liked the interaction between Sarah and the daughter, kind of cute…

I just love this show. I cried when Kristina turned out to have cancer.

It was firing on all cylinders tonight. The n---- word storyline was also pimptastic. It’s been too long since Charlie and Jasmine noticed their backgrounds were different.

I also continue to admire the cancer storyline. Tonight’s episode was very nuanced, and I didn’t think it was entirely favorable towards Krystina at all. She is procrastinating on her surgery – understandable, but not necessarily right. And any clear-eyed assessment would decide that successful surgery (and recovery) is far, far more important to Max’s lifelong wellbeing than having his Mom at school for the end of his quixotic Student Council Presidency quest.

Yeah, the cancer storyline is very well done, IMO. I watched my best friend/cousin/more-like-a-sister battle breast cancer over 7 years ago. I distinctly remember talking to her on the phone (we lived in different states) after she had found that it had come back and she knew her time was limited. She was very driven to organize everything for her family, and lamenting the fact that her husband (a very busy doctor) did not even know where the dry cleaners was. So to me, Krystina’s trying to find something she can “help with” and maybe even “fix” rang very true. But I was glad that her hubby stepped in and insisted that they move the surgery back up. Although my DH and I both yelled at the TV at the time saying “the date is probably already taken by now!!!” :)

Great episode last night! I agree with everyone’s comments about the cancer story line ringing true, yay for the FNL’s guy and yes, churchmusicmom, I too thought to myself, “That date is gone!”

I thought it was a very good episode, especially the scenes that Sam Jaeger (Joel) and Joy Bryant (Jasmine) had. Well-written and well-acted.

I mentioned that Matt Lauria (Luke from FNL) would be on this season a couple of pages back, so it was nice to see his debut last night. No doubt he will be welcomed into the fold of the Braverman family in no time.

One thing I find unusual is that Christina and Adam haven’t told anyone in the family about her cancer, with the exception of Adam hinting to Amber. Not typically the Braverman way. Looks like we better have our Kleenex ready for next week’s episode, judging by the previews last night. Also, trouble on the horizon for Sarah and Mark.

Anybody think the breast cancer might be a reason for Haddie to quit Cornell and come back home/to the show?

Oh–so will it be Haddie or Amber with Matt L?

Haddie’s been taken out of the opening credits, so I don’t think she’ll come back full time. And I don’t think Cristina would let her. It would tear her up if her cancer kept Haddie from fulfilling her dreams.

Please. No Haddie. Can’t stand that character.

Pass the tissues- every story line well acted, beautifully written, and had me reaching for tissues.
Life is not fair!

So I fell asleep in the beginning of the episode on Tuesday night, but luckily I DVR’d it. So I watched it last night and it was great. I am excited for the next episodes.

Loved every minute of the show tonight. Much prefer the Ray Romano/Lauren Graham relationship to that with Jason Ritter; seems more believable and she even seems likeable. The Breast Cancer storyline is being portrayed extremely well; both the storyline and the acting…also like the new addition of the young Afghan war veteran…looking forward to next week! just love this show.

Posting midshow. Peter Krause deserves an Emmy for that scene alone. So glad ds2and I are snuggled in bed together. Powerful for a parent ad kid to see.

So, will she have to have chemo?

Sarah is so stupid.

Go Luke and amber!!!
