Anyone watch Parenthood, the tv show?

I am disappointed that Ray Romano’s character is yet another “guy with issues.” I wanted for Sarah to have a mature relationship with a peer. Mark is level headed but I just don’t feel the chemistry between him and Sarah.

I liked this episode, especially seeing Glen Hansard. His songs are sooo moving! I agree about not wanting to see Ryan fall apart. That guy needs a break.

This week’s episode was on here (Canada) last night. Be sure to have your Kleenex ready!

^ thanks for the heads up!

I’m thinking about going to a basketball game to avoid watching it with the family so I can bawl in private.

So, I am someone who often reads the first chapter or two of a book and then flips to the end to check out the conclusion and I also have been known to search the internet for tv spoilers under the same compulsion. I won’t spoil the story arc for anyone here, but while learning where the story is headed, I also learned that Parenthood is going to have it’s season finale at the end of January and will give its time slot up to Smash, which is returning in February. I watch Smash, but don’t love it the same way I do Parenthood. This was not good news to me!

I’m sorry if this is an ignorant question. How was this week’s episode on earlier in Canada?

I love Smash! Will miss Parenthood but really look forward to Smash coming back!

Miss it? Is tonight the last episode and then Smash starts? I watch Parenthood every week. How did I miss this? Really like Smash too so I won’t be too sad.

2VU0609 (in #926) said Parenthood’s season finale is the end of January and then Smash comes back in February.

So NBC is an American broadcasting network and they get to choose at what times shows will air.

CTV is one of Canada’s networks who is owned by GlobalTV. These networks are able to buy the rights for these shows and air them when the States air them. Parenthood and many other shows air at different times and days than when these shows air in the US.

People in Canada then upload these episodes online which enable American viewers to watch them earlier. It is somewhat like Downton Abbey is dealt with on PBS.

Thanks for the info, Mdemvizi. You learn something every day here on CC. :)

Looking forward to tonight’s episode. Have my tissues ready.

What a tear jerker!

Tear jerker indeed. Brought up a lot of stuff really close to my own family…lost someone very close to me a few years ago.

I love the Amber storyline. She is so wise for her years. I had hopes for Ryan, but Amber is smart not to repeat her mom’s mistakes.

My sister went through the same thing when she was going through chemo. Scary.

I love this show. All of the characters have issues of some sort or other, but don’t we all? Honestly, though, I wish Sarah would get it together. Amber is more mature than her mother. I wish Haddie had been in the story throughout. I miss her.

In the end, it’s all about family–and that’s what they show. :)

Yes, I cried a bit too. But this is a college parent group… we know the college kids are usually home earlier than 12/25 ;)

Is it true they played Pearl Jam?
;)

So, I adore this show and hope it is not going away. I really did not like this episode at all. SportsMa–glad to hear that C was going through something realistic.
The whole Santa thing --gag me. Would have prefered an explanaition about the magic of Christmas v.s. Santa.
Did like Amber ton’s.
Overall might be my least favorite episode.

Well, Haddie was snowed in. My daughter once flew home right after finals on December 23. If you were stuck in an airport, it could easily go into Christmas. We did have a two-day trip one year in the spring due to weather issues. But…did Haddie find out about her mom’s chemo offscreen? I wonder if we will see anything more about that when they come back in January.
