Anyone watch Parenthood, the tv show?

Yesterday I got a text from a friend who said she finally listened to me and is now binge-watching. She just finished season one and is hooked! We’ll save this show yet.

coralbrook: My experience is that for whatever reason watching it through Hulu is way better than watching it through the NBC website. No constant buffering problems or having to restart.

Coralbrook: Does your cable system offer “On-Demand”, on my cable system I can watch TV shows I missed for free using the On-Demand option. They add a few commercials, and you can’t fast-forward through them, but not as many as on regular TV.

My prediction is that, if they do bring it back, it will be for a shortened season.

It feels like every season is shortened these days.

This season was 22 episodes, which is a long one. My guess is that a shortened Season 6, if it is renewed, will be in the 8-10 range.

NBC will announce their fall lineup at the Upfronts in May. Here is the schedule:

"2014 Broadcast Network Upfront Meetings

This is when most shows that have not already learnt their fate will know if they are Renewed or Cancelled. We will also know all the new shows and the new schedule for 2014/15

May 12, 2014 NBC New York Morning
May 12, 2014 FOX New York Afternoon
May 13, 2014 Univision New York Morning
May 13, 2014 ABC New York Afternoon
May 14, 2014 CBS New York Afternoon
May 15, 2014 The CW New York Morning

NBC Normally release their schedule a day before, ie 11th May"

In the USA Today “Save Our Shows” poll, Parenthood received the second most votes - just behind Law & Order:SVU.

OK, I talked to a friend last night in the business who follows this stuff closely (her dh has worked on another NBC show up for renewal), and she said word in the industry is that things are looking good for Parenthood.

According to this article it is a “safe bet”. <a href=“Renewed TV Shows: 2014 Renewal Scorecard — What’s Returning, Cancelled? – Page 4 – TVLine”>http://tvline.com/2013/10/31/renewed-tv-shows-2014-renewal-scorecard-cancelled-series/4/</a></p>

I’ve never heard of a lot of those shows in the tvline article.

I’ll be beyond upset if it’s cancelled. Its only one of two dramas that I watch. My Thursdays are so empty now…

Crossing my fingers.

Today’s the day … <a href=“Parenthood: canceled or season 6?”>http://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/parenthood-cancelled-over-dispute-for-season-six-32749/</a></p>

Youdont I was just about to post the same article! I wonder which way it will go. I think their biggest mistake was moving it and putting it in the same time slot as Scandal. I just don’t understand what they were thinking! Just by anecdotal evidence (My 30+ age Mom friends and I) we all watch both shows. We watched Scandal in real time and caught up on Parenthood later. Looks like they want to renew on their terms. I’ll be so upset to see this show go! Jason please take the deal and I hope they move the show to a different day as well!

I’m the opposite of TVenee. I watch Parenthood in real time and dvr Scandal. Parenthood’s feel good stories are the perfect thing just before bedtime. However, I agree with her suggestion that they take the deal and move the show to another night. Not ready to let go of this show yet!

I also watch in real time and catch Scandal later.

I predicted earlier on the thread that if it were to come back, it would be in a shortened season. I still think that is likely what will happen.

Anyone know what happened?

Supposedly, they reached an agreement but no official NBC announcement.
