We know about Julia and Ed. We don’t know about Joel and Pete.

But, of course, good to remember that it’s just a TV show!

Lolz, oldmom. We only “know” what we see. Maybe Julia and Ed were making hay in the sustainable garden when we weren’t looking!

As long as we are dissecting it, I think that once Sydney was in school Joel wasn’t feeling fulfilled as a stay-at-home dad. It was thrilling for him to be at work, but also stressful to prove he still had “it”. Julia was very successful at her work, but was not very successful as a stay-at-home mom. This caused her to lose who she was and to be in a very vulnerable position. Joel was upset that she wasn’t supporting him and “his turn” at being the breadwinner and Julia was upset because she felt like a fish out of water and wasn’t getting any support from Joel. Add to that the stress of adopting an older kid who hadn’t had an easy life. Probably all could have been resolved if they went to counseling, but Joel refused. She was patient for a long time, but I have to admit, I would have moved on too.

Clearly this is an opportunity for the writers. I hope they step up to the plate.

No sympathy for Joel here. I used to like the character but he became so rigid and unlikeable. Clearly Julia wanted to work it out, but he wouldn’t.

Alright fine. If I have to, I’ll just take Joel. ;)

^ lol

Ok. I kinda like the new guy anyway.

The new guy is very attractive.

I have to admit that the new guy is more my usual type – dark, lean. He was pretty charming in that last episode, for sure.

Does anyone else like Parenthood on FB? They just posted a sneak peek about Crosby. What dumb thing did he do now???

That was also on the previews for next week after last weeks episode. He has been acting very stupid lately.

I watched online so I missed the previews! Obviously, I am going to really miss this show when it’s gone. :(

“And if you’re going to buy a home for your old age it really shouldn’t have all those stairs!”

That is exactly what popped into my head when they got out of the car. And at that age, who would buy a house without the master on the first floor?

I’m not sure how old Zeke and Camille are supposed to be on the show but I believe they’re both in their 60s IRL. It’s not as though they’re in their 80s! Having said that, I still don’t understand why they bought the house they did. I thought the whole reason for getting away from the family home was to get a condo.

^But usually when people that age sell the home where they raised their family and downsize, normally they think about what they will need as they advance in age.

They bought the house they did because it’s a TV show.

Zeke is 70 and Camille is 66 IRL. I certainly would not be buying a house on two levels with stairs at that stage of my life. None of the writers of the show apparently are in the sandwich generation so they have no clue as yet!

I also have no sympathy for Joel here. He went through a change of life period for which he has no explanation…I have seen this IRL so the storyline was very believable to me as was the eventual outcome. I am happy he is reverting back to his old self but too bad for him!

Any thoughts on the latest episode? What about Drew’s declaration of major? He is such a mature and responsible young man. But should he choose Econ or something he loves - should he listen to Adam or Crosby?

I thought the episode was somewhat disjointed. I did not understand Drew’s big rush to declare his major early when he has time. Kristina sure makes it look easy for working moms. Starting a charter school is not the kind of job where you come home early and make a lasagna.
