Appalachian State Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

I didn’t see a thread started yet!
I applied test optional early action in psychology. I also applied to the honors college and for a couple of the signature scholarships.
OOS from upstate NY
Public high school where I am in the top 5% of my class of 325 students.
8 APs, 4 dual enrollment, and 10 honors.
My unweighted average is a 3.9 and my weighted average is a 4.4
National Honor Society
Over 75 volunteer hours, will have an additional 50 hours this year
Captain for 5 years on my travel softball team
Play for a nationally ranked travel volleyball team

From what I’ve read on other threads it doesn’t sound like they release decisions earlier than the posted date, and it is not easy to get much in terms of merit aid. Anyone have any other insight?

Curious, what is your attraction to App State? Your stats are well above the school student population.

I like the option of pursuing either a BA or BS in Psychology, and App State has this where many schools have one or the other. The Honors college in very strong as well with opportunities for research and studying abroad. They also have a fantastic Masters clinical program that I am hoping to continue on with after undergrad.

I think you will for sure be accepted to App with those stats!

My daughter applied to the Honors college as well to be considered for their Chancellor’s Scholarship (long-shot) and the other signature scholarships so fingers crossed!

My son is a senior at App in the HC and it’s been a great experience. Only blip was study abroad due to Covid his first two years… Good luck!

In-state, Accepted, Academic Excellence Scholarship. You have to click on “Status Update” upper left-hand corner to view your most recent decision. That brings you to a form letter and the scholarship is listed in the letter. You have to find another link on your portal to see terms and conditions (amount). “View Scholarship link” was below the large yellow “Transfer Honors College Application”. It’s a little confusing. It was a one-time $2000 scholarship for us. Haven’t seen anything else.

Daughter was too. Her first choice. She is super excited.

Curious if anyone has figured out their university username to log onto Apelnet? Did we miss something? For those who are certain App is your first choice, the sooner you pay your deposit, the better your timing for choosing a dorm. I believe they go off the date your deposit is made but I could be wrong about this. We have a friend from last year who knew App was his first choice, he accepted and payed his deposit very early and was able to secure his first choice dorm which is very nice. Good luck to all in this whole process!!

The username is on the right hand side of the portal along with the student id number. It should be last name, first and middle initial followed by a number.

Was surprised to see decisions release as I thought I read that they were releasing in January? Anyways here’s my stats: OOS, applied for Public Health, 29 ACT, 4.0 uw, unknown weighted but 5 APS and 6 honors. 150+ volunteer hours, several awards for leadership in clubs, editor for school newspaper. Anyone know when merit scholarships are released? I also applied to Honors but I don’t think we’ll hear back from them until Feb.

Has anyone here paid the enrollment deposit and been able to log onto the housing portal? I don’t think housing applications open until February, but I was curious if it explains how the timing of housing selection works. I haven’t been able to find any concrete information on this. If anyone has found any information in this regard, please send it my way. Good luck to you all!!

S24 was accepted in early December, but aside from his initial text message saying he was accepted, we haven’t received any further communication. Have any accepted students received any information by snail mail yet?
