Class of 2018 here  Gap year WOOHOO!

Wassup '17ers?
Fellow applicant here from the Indian Thread. Hows everything coming along?

Hello rew. There are no '17ers here yet. Hopefully, as Fall approaches they will show up. My son will be applying to the class of '17.

Is it reasonable or crazy to apply to 20 colleges?

International admissions are so competitive and applying to most of the top schools if you’re a competitive applicant is considered necessary here in Pakistan.

Consider this:

2 have no supplement or application fee.
2 have no supplements.
I will probably apply to 3 EA, one private and two public so there’ll be less work to do.

btw you should update the list.

1 from Aitchison to Middlebury, Duke and Northwestern.
1 from LGS 55-Main to Trinity, Hofstra and Denver.
1 from LGS Defence to UPenn.
1 from Aitchison

@princeton 2017 Im taking a gap year so I’m 2018. But I’m applying to 21 schools so I’m in the same bandwagon.

oh ok. but you already know you’re taking a gap year? How come?

21 schools? You guys are crazoooo :open_mouth:
I applied to only 11 man and I was like dying doing apps and essays (and spending like 1200 USD on apps)

@bluelovexD, yeah i know which is why im probably gonna cut it down to at least 13.

guys! can you give me some names of USA Universities that lie in rural(country) areas and doesn’t require SAT?
PLEASE HELP ME GUYS… I’M REALLY GETTING DOWN!!!

^There are many colleges in the country, can you be more specific? Which state? What type of rural area, cold, warm, mountain, low flat coastal, desert, forest, lake, river, ocean, agricultural, ranch, farm? What do you want to study? What is your educational background? How much do you want to spend a year? What are your hobbies and interests etc?

How selective are you looking at?
Also, aid?

-suburban area.
-no preference to weather.
-Engineering in Computing.
-A Level graduated.

Bowdoin is rural and doesn’t require the SAT.

Wait, do you want rural or suburban? Coz they’re sort of different…

There is a whole list here: [SAT/ACT Optional 4-Year Universities | FairTest](ACT/SAT Optional List - Fairtest)

I recommend the following: Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Smith & Bryn Mawr & Agnes Scott (all girls), Middlebury (this one is amazing), Bates, Bard, Franklin & Marshall, Hamilton… I know a lot more about aid giving schools though and these are quite generous. However a lot of them are LACs and don’t have engineering though. They do have similar majors such as computer sciences etc

not rural but suburban

I would probably recommend WPI and Old Miss.

If you want West Coast, the Claremont Colleges are an amazing group of colleges in California, 35 miles out of Los Angeles.

Sarah Lawrence is definitely a place you should look at; they don’t accept SATs or any other form of standardized tests.
