Those are good AP’s i think ur son will surely make it to the unis he wants to go if he has facebook tell me his fb link maybe we can keep in contact. I hope my parents agree if u know there is so much propoganda that US is nt safe bt thats nt a matter to worry about though!!

Maaz, what is confusing about your GPA? I believe it comes to about about a 3.9 unweighted. Also, why are you taking Math I instead of Math II SAT Subject Test?

zee, he is not on facebook, but if you end up at the same schools I will certainly give you his info. Sure, parents worry, it is our job to worry.

Errr can anyone look at my last post and help me out a bit? I’m actually quite tense

G33, If they do not have any clubs at your school, just say that on your application. Possibly have the counselor rec. mention it too.

Yea I’ll make sure of that. Btw what do you think are my chances for some of the top uni’s? With good SAT-I and SAT-II score?

Hey sure no probz just keep in contact! We both are giving SAT Tests on the sane dates!

G33, The top colleges that you are applying to have accpetance rated below 10%. The acceptance rate of internationals is south of 5%. It is said that about 85% of these applicants are academically qualified to attend. So who gets accepted, comes down to who makes a strong impression on the adcoms. By the way, there was an applicant from Rawalpindi last year with an FSc background who was waitlisted at Princton and Penn., so these schools will consider you. However, your goal should be to take as many SAT Subject Tests as possible and score above 700, in my opinion.

Perazziman I was not sure how to calculate it.
Can you please guide me as to how you reached at this?
And secondly what is the difference between an unweighted GPA and a weighted GPA?
And I am taking the SAT 2 Math 1 because I was comfortable with it.
Do you think I should go for SAT 2 Math 2 as well?

And should I retake my SAT 1?
Or should I just focus on SAT 2?

Perazziman, I am thinking of SAT-II Physics, Chem, Maths Level I-C and Match Level II-C. Will these be good enough?

And do you know those people who got waitlisted? It’d be good to know how they presented their case

G33, You do not need Math I, just take Math II with Physics and Chemistry.

Maaz, give yourself 4 points for every A* (top 5 to10%), 3 points for A (next 5 to 10%) etc. then divide by the total number of courses. That is approx. your unweighted GPA.

In your case 9 x 4 + 1 x 3 = 39,

39 / 10 = 3.9 GPA for your sophomore and junior year.

Will that be good enough? 3 SAT subject tests

G33, That should be good enough to suggest you are academically qualified to handle the course work at top schools.

Hey, everyone.

Could anyone please list some good, top-ranked colleges that’ll give a healthy aid package (85-90 percent) to Pakistanis. I know that 5 Ivy’s and 2 other colleges are need-blind, but how does this criteria match up with…let’s top 50 colleges in the USA.

Thank you!

Can someone please tell me how do people manage such major financial aid? I have a 2200 in SAT and ABC in A levels. What is the probability that I’ll get a scholarship/aid?

Junaid, I believe the top LACs also give generous aid (Amherst, Williams, Colby, Colgate, Vasaar, Wesleyan, Vanderbilt etc)
You should also check these colleges-
WPI
Rochester polytechnic institute
UCincinnati

Jen092, I am no expert on A Levels, but an ABC may send the signal that you are not very passionate and hard working.

perazziman, any additions to the list Jen092 mentioned?

I know my list is contingent upon my SAT scores (more specifically my CR score, I am scoring a modest score in that section as of now), but I’d like to have as extensive a list as possible at this point in time.
