Are lobsters bugs?

Obviously not, but like cockroaches, they are arthropods. They both have an exoskeleton with antennas and scavenge.

They also look like scorpions. It seems kind of gross if you think about it.

They’re seabugs.

That makes them sound kind of cute.

IMHO you have better things to do. But yes, they do look like bugs. Somewhat. Except they are reporeted to taste better and have more meat on their bones.

There’s some sort of Biblical thing about them being bugs, along with other crustaceans. So they’re not kosher. And maybe not halal either.

I don’t know how you people like eating lobster, or seafood in general. Thinking about it makes me wanna barf lol

mmmmmmmm bugs

True bugs are a group within the Insecta phylum, so no.

Lobsters are not bugs as you’ve pointed out. However, they are very close relatives to the cockroach.

They are both under the group Myriapoda and the phrase “roaches of the sea” explains the behavior of lobsters and other crustaceans as omnivore scavengers.

^
See, that makes it SO GROSS that lobsters are considered a delicacy.

Somebody justify the eating of lobsters to me so I don’t throw up.

They’re easier to eat than crabs?

You cannot Saugus, it is gross.

Per DH, the bug lover PhD (who creeps around at night wearing night goggles to view them, and totally embarrasses our kids):

Lobsters are decapods not insects. Same phylum different class.

Here’s what wiki says:

Decapod, from the Greek decapoda meaning “ten-legged”:

* Crustaceans in the Order Decapoda, such as lobsters and crabs

A lobster is not a bug. It is a crustacean(Crustacea). True bugs are in the class Insecta, order Hemiptera, suborder Heteroptera. Crustacea and Insecta both belong in the phylum Arthropoda. From that point, the classification differs.

Also, don’t clams and mussels seem kind of similar to snails?

Sagus: haha, i can’t.

I mean, after all, some people do consider insects a delicacy.

I like lobsters, or almost any type of seafood. ha…you might call it disgusting but i call it dinner.

Although the similarities between them do instill shivers down my spine. lol!

I didn’t realize I referred to Insecta as a phylum. sad day.

And snails are edible. Escargot!

they taste so good!!!

lol…phylum insecta.

I thought they were a crustacean.

And I don’t like lobsters either. The texture of the meat when chewing is unbearable.

^ They are crustaceans…I was said that because he mistakenly said “Phylum insecta”
