I loved the Household Cavalry. I watched the BBC coverage, loved it and no commercials. Didn’t really care for her dress, I was surprised it looked just like Grace of Monaco’s. She looked so beautiful though and it’s her day. William had a tough time getting that ring on, it’s staying on.

How many times did they kiss on the balcony? I saw at least two.

Not beating up on Fergie’s daughters. They have it bad enough.

I hadn’t intended to get up to watch the wedding, but only to watch highlights later in the day. But I woke up at 5:30 and couldn’t get back to sleep, so I started watching at 5:45, just in time to see William and Harry arrive at the Abbey, Kate get into the car and drive over, etc. I was able to watch until almost 7:30 while getting ready to go out for the morning.

I thought Kate’s dress was beautiful and perfect. It reminded me right away of Grace Kelly’s. Pippa looked spectacular. Kate did look tired, except when she smiled. She was very natural driving through the crowds and waving. I thought she had on a bit too much makeup, which aged her a little. She still looked beautiful. The wedding had a wonderful feeling; it was clear that there are warm relationships among the royal family. It was great seeing William and Harry all grown up.

I was shocked at Beatrice and Eugenie. They looked horrible. I did read somewhere that they were wearing designer dresses. That awful hat on one of them! It’s surprising that it is possible to buy such ugly clothes from designers. They would have done better shopping at TJMaxx. I wonder whether anyone (the queen, their father, their mother, the palace staff) tried to talk them out of those outfits?

I did not like the trees in the Abbey. They just looked strange.

Over at the Daily Beast, Robin Givhan has a great review about the dress (which she liked) and a slide show of “best hats.” Man, I love the hats…

I thought the wedding was just lovely. I was particularly touched to see Sir Elton John and his husband sitting together in the Abbey. That spoke to me very deeply in recognition of the groom’s mother and that a same sex couple would be welcomed at the very highest occasion in their country.

I loved seeing Elton and his partner, too. It did remind me of Diana. It is so sad that she didn’t live long enough to see her sons grown.

Except for Elton John, I didn’t recognize any of the other faces that they focused the cameras on - clearly famous people, but who were they all?

Am I the only one who, when the officiant asked if anyone had objections to the wedding, had a fleeting vision of Dustin Hoffman running down the aisle?

I can only hope that between Ivanka Trump and Kate we will start to see the end of strapless wedding gowns that flatter about 10% of those who wear them. I thought the dress was beautiful, but not the best choice for Kate’s rather angular figure. She would have benefited from softer lines. Also, she could have used some color on her lips, as long as I’m carping.

I was astonished at how well behaved the two 3-year old bridesmaids were–didn’t see one nosepick the whole time!

Having married after my father was gone, I was also acutely aware of that bittersweet aspect of the day for William. And loved seeing Elton and H there, with all that their presence signified.

Piling on re Eugenie and Beatrice - the eye make-up on the one in tan! Black holes - is that a sought-after look?

I also didn’t like the trees in the Abbey. Odd, imo. But it’s their wedding and they should have whatever they want :).

I thought Beatrice or Eugenie (whichever was the one in the blue floral) was very ill-served by whoever helped her choose that dress. It was so ill-fitting, so unflattering, and the hemline was so…not right. It reminded me of the type of thing that gets savaged after the runway show on Project Runway. She looked very chunky. I’m sure there were more flattering dresses she could have worn.

They were cute!
I did see a gentleman in the audience pick his nose though - lol. No idea who it was (thank goodness!).
In scouring the audience I thought about 75% of the people looked rather dour. I think The MOB could have cleaned up a little better - she looked totally bewildered and I think they could have shined her up a little more.

I never was a Charles fan but seeing those two boys made me think he must have done something right. Diana got them started but somehow he continued. She must be so joyful in heaven today!

Man o man. Having a wedding is stressful enough. But can you even imagine having people the world over criticizing everything from the music to the fashion, etc? I am NOT saying this to criticize anyone here. I love giving my opinions too (Loved Kate’s dress…HATED the crazy hat on Fergie’s daughter…), but it’s just hard to imagine living that life…

I pray they have a happy life together. They did seem so happy and so “down to earth”!

I read where Kate wanted decorations/flowers that were “seasonal and ethical”. The romantic in me sees the trees being planted as an allee at Balmoral for them to enjoy for many, many years.

I thought the MOB looked just perfect…understated. No MOB should shine too much, IMO. That’s the brides job, and boy did Catherine do it well!

Loved the trees. Very nice to know that they will be planted and enjoyed by many generations to come. Maybe little royals to come will enjoy seeing a part of their parents’ wedding day…

I had heard the trees had lilies at the base. I have not seen a picture but I bet the trees looked better in person than on TV. I also liked the simple look. I thought the MOB looked great as well.

A friend pointed out how agile both the Queen and Prince Philip are. When they arrived back at the palace they took to the steps with no problems. I’m sure they are thrilled to be able to enjoy their grandson’s wedding day.

There is a wonderful photo of one of the 3-yo bridesmaids on the balcony, making an awful face. It is being photoshopped all over the place now:
