Are you excited about the royal wedding?

^ I agree they are fascinating, but the term also makes me think of a fastener and how these things mysteriously fasten to the front or side of the head without falling off. Fascinating fasteners.

Sequoia - you and I are back where we started 19 hours ago. LOL. I just turned the TV off after watching the BBC replay of the wedding.

In the photo of Kate leaving for the evening with Camilla standing next to her–it looks to me like Camilla should have her jammies on under that blue thing and head off to bed.

I love both the gowns worn by Kate today. I thought the entire thing was beautiful and nothing like the over-the-top event of Charles and Diana.

I commented to my (totally disinterested) H this morning that William’s mannerisms were exactly like his mother’s. He has that same way of looking down and peeking back up.

Umm…small point. Jacket with reception dress is angora, not feathered.

Thanks for the photo links, blackeyedsusan. I’m starting to get my fill :).

Victoria Beckham’s shoes were insane. Maybe they will finally be the kiss of death for the stiletto-cum-platform style. The platforms must have been 3" or so in themselves.

Joan Rivers and the Fashion Police gang are “analyzing” the wedding fashion now.

The platforms on VB’s shoes were made especially because she is pregnant. Designed to take the weight off her heel and enable her to wear them all day. Plus, they supposedly reduce the risk of falling.

What would have transpired, if for some reason William had said “I don’t” instead of “I Do”?

I thought the Queen looked nice …. Princess Ann and Camilla not so much.

I thought the Queen looked adorable. Somebody compared her to Winnie the Pooh, all dressed in yellow as she was.

God. Camilla in her blue housedress. Or muu-muu. Whatever it is.

And Pippa’s pretty, but she definitely needs to spend less time in the tanning bed.

Kate’s dress really was so beautiful-timeless and elegant. I heard on the Today show this morning that the lace in the bodice had touches of Great Britain-rose,thistle,shamrock and daffodil.

What did everyone think of the nuns? I was a little confused by them and now there are reports that one was a ninja nun : [Royal Wedding: ‘Ninja nun’ sat inches from Prince William | Mail Online](Royal Wedding: 'Ninja nun' sat inches from Prince William | Daily Mail Online)

I’m not sure if I believe it or not but it is interesting for sure.

Seeing Carole Middleton’s evening gown, I was struck by how thin she is, especially for a woman in her 50’s. She looks naturally thin. As someone posted above, very good genes she’s passed on to her daughters!

There have been some beautiful official photos released. There is a wonderful one of William and Kate surrounded by the children in the wedding party. I had a flash forward to 30 years from now, when their first-born child marries, and some of those children are interviewed as grownups.

It’s too bad women can’t wear uniforms to these things. Princess Anne is entitled to wear one for some reason or other, and it looks good on her.

^^ Love the photos of them walking hand-in-hand to the helicopter.

After the dinner last evening, there were toasts. According to reports, Prince Charles, after teasing his son about his receding hairline, had some tender words for Kate. He is supposed to have said that she’s the daughter he never had, and that the family is lucky to have her.

I must agree on that last point. If you think about the strain she’s been under for months, and the pressure of being married under the watchful eye of 2 billion people – and that girl did not make one teeny little mistake. She carried it off with such grace that you would have thought she was born a princess.

Agreed. In many respects, I thought that the Middleton family was more regal than the Royal family. They certainly had better taste, and in some cases, more class than the “nobility.”

About the official wedding photos: Given the size of Buckingham Palace, you’d think they could have found a better room. When you’ve got guys wearing red uniform jackets with gold trim, why photograph the group in a room with red wallpaper and gold trim? Couldn’t they have found somewhere with better contrast?

The women and girls look OK – and so do the men who aren’t wearing red – but William and Prince Philip and the page boys seem to fade into the background. Red on red is not a good look.
