High school games can have rather bizarre endings:

You need to know the rules of the game

The Jets beat N.O. Now that is surprising. Gotta admit I like it especially without Sanchez.

The refs can use the help:

<a href=“Dallas Cowboys | Dallas Morning News”>Dallas Cowboys | Dallas Morning News;

That’s hysterical. I am starting to like Romo after all.

The person I really don’t like is Richie Incognito. He’s the kind of guy who will probably be in prison some day.

[Fins Suspend Incognito Amidst Reports Of Racism And Threats « CBS Miami](Fins Suspend Incognito Amidst Reports Of Racism And Threats - CBS Miami)

The more I hear about the Incognito/Martin thing, the more disgusted I get.

I thought it was pretty funny that Romo tried to nudge the ball forward, but he is probably lucky they didn’t flag him for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Apparently even the Patriots, who believe they can take “problem” players and turn them around, had Incognito as Do Not Draft due to Character issues.

It sounds like the Dolphins are getting ready to cut him loose:

[Report: Dolphins are ‘done’ with Richie Incognito](<a href=“NFL National Football League News, Expert Analysis, Rumors, Live Updates, & more - Yahoo Sports”>NFL National Football League News, Expert Analysis, Rumors, Live Updates, & more - Yahoo Sports)

And good riddance.

I wonder what happens to Martin?

Incognito was not the only one abusing the young players… it’s hard to see how Martin comes back.

I’m sure the harassment lawsuit will quickly follow if the Dolphins try to weasel out of his contract. Supposedly they were going to put him on the Non-Football Injury list. I’m not sure what if anything players get paid when on that list.

I think the result will be another NFL conduct rule. Think about the garbage the league has been through. Aaron Hernandez awaiting trial for one murder … so far. More players arrested this off season than ever … I think the final count was near 40. Aldon Smith having to leave the 49ers for rehab and then a court date for illegally possessing assault weapons and after a party at his house at which he fired a gun, was stabbed and 2 others were shot. I could keep going.

And then we find out the Dolphins have been tolerating racist hazing … and a lot of it by a guy known throughout the league as a piece of crap. And on top of that, the over-the-top stories of forcing rookies to pay tens of thousands of dollars for meals, for bottles of champagne the veterans take home, for trips for the veterans to Las Vegas. This is really bad PR.

As for the utter stupidity of the Dolphins, that speaks for itself. The coaching staff and management let this crap happen and now they’ve lost 2 linemen - and maybe Pouncey will get suspended too.

It was the Dolphin organization’s utter incompetence that isolated Martin because not a single person had the toughness to do the right thing.

I think O-line coach Jim Turner’s got to take some responsibility. As much time as pro position groups spend together in meetings and whatnot, I imagine he witnessed a lot of this stuff first-hand and was in a position to stop it.

Who plays again? Martin or Incognito?

I heard a little piece on this yesterday on ESPN radio. John Madden said “Nowadays, they’ve got 20 assistant coaches on these teams. They either knew about this and didn’t do anything, or they didn’t know about this when they absolutely should have.”

I wasn’t familiar with RI prior to this incident. In reading about him, it sounds like he has been a problem on every team he’s been a part of, but his athletic talent has carried him along. He’s been characterized as having an anger problem, but it seems just as likely that he is just a tremendous &*$%#.

According to what I heard on the radio from a former NFL QB now host (and color man for the Patriots) Scott Zolak, only the 1st round pick would be stuck with a huge dinner bill. The 2nd rounder would have to put out doughnuts every week and the other picks would have to take their positional group out for dinner but to some reasonable place. The story that Martin, a 2nd, had to pay $15k for a trip to Vegas (that he didn’t go on) would be excessive.

Zolak also described the mandatory haircuts and in his case being athletic taped so he could barely breathe, something that was actually very dangerous.

And Teddy Bruschi says that Bill Belichek told the team to stop making the rookies pay so much, telling them it had gotten out of hand. Coaches clearly know what goes on. The Dolphins coaches are idiots.

The case of Incognito is that he’s a bad apple. And that is perhaps why Martin reacted so much. Incognito was in big trouble in college. Tony Dungy said they had him listed as DND-C, which stands for Do Not Draft - Character. According to reports, lots of teams refused to draft him. He has, as they say, worn out his welcome on every team. He has been in fights and according to the Miami press was banned from a night club only weeks ago because he got into a fight with security. He has been voted the dirtiest player in the league. Etc. So any team that takes this idiot has to deal with a) public fallout, b) player fallout and c) the reality that he’s a complete screw-up who will cause problems.

While I am certain that the refs could have thrown a flag, I think they considered that it was 4th down and that it would simply move the ball back. Also, they might have a sense of humor as it is totally impossible for Romo to get away with it as he would have had to fool an entire stadium and the replay officials.

I happen to think it was funny and that the refs considered it rather amusing and not malicious or devious.

And then there’s this…

This week has been circled for quite a while.
Featured games include…

Alabama vs. 13. LSU (Saturday- 8 EST- CBS)

Oregon @ 5. Stanford (Thursday- 9 EST-ESPN)

Oklahoma @ 6. Baylor (Thursday- 7:30 EST- FOX 1)

I don’t remember 4 top 10 teams all playing on the same Thursday night ever, do you?
Two of the three biggest games being on Thursday takes a little steam out of the weekend, at least they’re not all on at the same time like we’ve had in some past weeks.
Always good to see better games that eliminate teams from title hopes. Isn’t this the College version of the playoffs?

Do you see Oregon pummeling Stanford, by three touchdowns at least?
I want there to be loads of unbeatens so keep it rolling Baylor!

Eugene is nuts today. I do NOT see the Ducks winnings by that much. I’m worried that they’ll win at all. Argh!!

Everything is possible, especially since Stanford will miss several key players. However, the pummeling does not happen automatically:

[Stanford Cardinal vs. Oregon Ducks - Recap - November 17, 2012 - ESPN](<a href=“NCAA on ESPN - College Football Scores, Stats and Highlights”>Stanford 17-14 Oregon (Nov 17, 2012) Game Recap - ESPN)

I think there is a better chance of LSU or Auburn beating Alabama soon than Stanford beating Oregon tonight.

Well the good news is that one could be happy with either outcome.

If the Ducks emerge as winners, there is nothing short of a disaster that should preclude them to earn a spot in the National Championship. All they have to do is to run the table, and there is nothing the other teams can do, and nothing the biased “judges” can invent as the strength of schedules speaks for itself. The ACC teams can continue to pummel HS teams and they will still fall short. Their only hope is for Alabama to stumble.

If Stanford wins, they will gain some pride, but there is little to no chance that a win against the Ducks would result in switching places in the rankings. All Stanford would gain is a spot lost by the Ducks, and that might not even happen.

So either way, tonight the Pac-12 or Stanford wins. The losers will be the same teams that are perennially advantaged by a biased and moronic preseason rankings that yielded high ranks for teams a la Clemson and Georgia.

I want Stanford to do well, but killing Oregon chances, as they did last year, would be bittersweet.

Poetic justice!
