I’m rooting for Baylor to beat OU. But I guess I’m always rooting for anyone who plays for OU. :o

Cute, Oregon yet again proves that it isn’t deserved of its over inflated ranking that it only has due to being perennially advantaged by a biased and moronic preseason polls.

^ Like Michigan…

I don’t understand the way this polling works. As someone who didn’t really grow up with football, the ranking makes no sense to me. (Though I don’t think it really makes sense to anyone)

This Oregon-Stanford game is going pretty good. Now if both FSU and LSU win Saturday…FSU will be ranked #1 in BCS Sunday. It’s getting late now…I’m dragging my east coast bias to bed.

…no I’m not going to bed yet…Oregon is still in game!

Stanford’s defense could stop anyone in the country. Too bad they lost to Utah and we won’t be seeing them in the national championship game.

People that understand the bowl system- does OSU have a shot at the BCS championship?

I want to go to the Rose Bowl…

OSU probably needs a Florida state/Alabama loss and a Stanford loss after tonight. But they can’t do it just by winning out.

Only if Alabama and florida st and or baylor lose (Ohio state right?)

Yes, Ohio State.

Thanks, pickle. That’s what I thought I wasn’t sure though.

I don’t think Stanford can leapfrog Ohio State. Right now, Ohio St. is pretty close to Florida St. in terms of the BCS pts despite being one ranking lower, so it is possible that Ohio St. will end up ranking higher than Florida St. in the BCS even if Florida St. doesn’t lose. The Florida St. schedule is kind of weak.

Jerry Palm’s latest bowl projections have Alabama vs. FSU for BCS national title game. He’s predicting Ohio State vs. Stanford in Rose Bowl.

I have to admit I am shocked that Stanford beat Oregon. I like it but I am shocked. How a school with such high academic standards can get a great football team is beyond me.

I was also shocked that Minn. beat Washington in the NFL. Where is the RGIII scoring machine?

razor - I was surprised by Stanford’s win too. A current player on the Stanford team is from our high school. He was a 3.4 gpa/28 ACT kid (I know his mom well). Certainly, it’s harder for athletes to get into Stanford than Oregon, but, the recruits get a huge boost in the admissions process. Not to derail the thread (there are other threads to discuss the fairness of the boost - and I do know what it takes to be a DI athlete), but my happy feelings of seeing the apparently uber-smart kids succeed at nationally ranked athletic programs have been dampened by what I know anecdotedly (Stanford footlball and Duke basketball). FWIW, the kid has been on academic probation.
The MN game surprised me too. What a quarterback situation they have! Now Ponder is hurt apparently.

Cute but a tad silly. One team had to lose. Just as in the past years. Silly because you seem to ignore the schedules as well as the record of the past four seasons.

Losing one game in the current PAC12 is the same as it used to be in the Big12. Others seem to earn mulligans. What do people say when Bama loses to LSU?

Good thing that playoffs are on the horizon.

Well, the boost should be huge if one considers the average footballer pedigree and the small detail that Stanford is the most selective school in the country.

There are plenty of stories about the recruiting at Stanford and the input of admissions. For every athlete who got an academic boost, there are several students who were academic and athletic superstars. In this regard, the school is head and shoulders above the rest. Some get close, but nobody recruits athletes who can do the work better, including graduating with tough majors.

Anecdotes provide some insight, but do not amount to data.

Ponder dislocated his non-throwing shoulder, there’s a good chance he won’t miss a game.

It was a pretty good game, all things considered. A nice comeback by Minnesota and they had to hold on for dear life at the end. And the Purple Jesus got me 20 fantasy points. :D

^^

Did Tebow join Freeman on the bench?

There’s only one Purple Jesus. And it ain’t Tebow.

Some might find it hard to believe Jesus hails from Texas. Even he is from Palestine.

We, the Longhorns fans think AP was the devil. Unless he would redeem himself by putting a blue star on his helmet.

Peterson a Cowgirl?

Keep dreaming.
