“Some get close, but nobody recruits athletes who can do the work better, including graduating with tough majors.”
Lets not forget that Stanford does give out Athletic scholarships, unlike the Ivy’s. That can be a big incentive for smart athlete-scholars to say “yes” when the tree comes calling.
I loved last nights game, and was not surprised they won, having so many smart seniors this year and a coach who figured out how to beat Oregon.

That Stanford loss helped OSU!

But yeah, we have to hope for an Alabama loss to LSU or Auburn. Both of those are pretty hyped up matches. Malzahn is a genius.

and a sense of humor

I just watched a Texas A and M football player run a kick off all the way back but not for a touchdown. He leaped into the end zone and did a flip while he was in the air in the end zone. The refs called unsportsman like conduct because he leaped into the endzone and did a flip. The penalized the team 15 yards from the point he jumped and erased his touchdown. That has to be the dumbest rule I have ever heard of. Let the kids jump into the endzone is what I say. It is a lot more fun to watch.

Well, we can’t have them hurting the feelings of the players on the other team, now can we.

I did not want to see Bama win. Oh well :/

I hate Bama. And I hate that the ducks lost. The nation will never hear the end of it if Bama wins another national championship.

Alabama is going to really hate it when they get beat by the FSU team for national championship guided by its likely Heisman winner QB from Birmingham, Alabama…Jameis Winston.

As someone with no horse in the race, my message is the Alabama haters are going to be disappointed. Saban is just on a different level as a coach. Most successful college coaches are tremendous recruiters but not so good with Xs and Os (Les Miles, Mack Brown, etc.). Well Saban might not be a charm school graduate but has proven that Alabama is a pipeline to the pros. Combine that with his huge “schematic advantage” (where is that old blowhard Charlie Weis anyway) and Alabama is a dynasty and will win a 3rd straight championship.

FSU’s head coach Jimbo Fisher is almost a clone of Saban. Jimbo Fisher coached with Saban at LSU for five years…Fisher was LSU’s offensive coordinator when LSU won NC in 2003. Saban will meet his match with Fisher if the two teams end up playing each other for NC.

<a href=“Look-Alikes Top the B.C.S. Standings - The New York Times”>Look-Alikes Top the B.C.S. Standings - The New York Times;

Jimbo also worked under the greatest recruiter/most clueless X and O guy of all time in Bobby Bowden. Jumbo is a good coach. Big game, I’ll take McCarren over Winston at QB.

FSU has been impressive this year. Alabama has done everything to deserve its current ranking. A championship between those two is just as representative as in the previous years. This means for some it appears to be a game of the best teams. For others, a bit of a joke a la Bama vs LSU or OU vs Florida.

A true playoff should stop this non-sense, although there will be plenty of shenanigans available to the usual suspects.

FSU won national championship titles twice under Bowden. I’ll take a coach who is a great recruiter over a coach who is a great X and O guy any day of the week. A coach can be good with X and O’s, but if he doesn’t have the studs…team isn’t going to win championships.

Bowden knew his X’s and O’s too. His ‘puntrooskie’ play used against Clemson 25 years ago has been called by some the greatest college football play ever.

lizard, that was fun! Thanks for posting.

BTW, UT game about killed me last night. This year, being a Horns fan is not for the faint-hearted.

Will Saban move to Texas?

Mrs. Saban will decide.

I have a group of friends who FB during the game, and I seemed to be the only one open to the idea. Everyone else can’t get past their hate of him. My reasoning: I’ve lived this long with Jerry Jones; Saban is only a small step down from there.

I never understood the animosity towards Jerry Jones or Mack Brown. Both brought great years years and victories to Texas. This said, Saban does not rub me the wrong way, and he could do good things in Texas.

By the way, do you think Andrew Luck would love to have a couple of his old Stanford running backs around him instead of that charlatan named Richardson. Can’t run. Can’t protect. Colts are playing with their luck. No pun intended.
