Five times including this year, according to <a href=“Seahawks dominate with all-around effort - ESPN - Stats & Info- ESPN”>http://espn.go.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/84027/seahawks-dominate-with-all-around-effort . The #1 defense team won four out of the five. The #1 offense team that won had the #2 defense.

I have to join my fellow Seattle-ites in celebration today. SEAHAWKS!

This morning’s breakfast discussion–Should school districts allow students to have an excused day off or not for tomorrow’s big parade? D14 will be at the parade with her parents permission. Why not? Her mother is a lifelong/long-suffering Cubs fan and we moved to Seattle before the Bears won the Super Bowl in '85, so who knows if this opportunity will ever present itself to our family again??? I say “go for it”.

Arent those things usually up to the principal?
Thats what the district has said before.
If I was Banda, I would say that the kids have to go to school, but that on a class by class basis, they could decide to have a field trip to the parade. Certainly there is as much learning there as some of the other things the districts do.
This would also give more kids a chance to experience a historical event, not just the ones whose parents could take the time off.
Thats what they would have done at Summit.
If my kids were interested in it & not just as a day off, I would take them out if they were in k-12.
But then I also took them out of school for mental health days, I dont think all learning occurs within the classroom.

H & I are going tomorrow. He is going into work at 5am per usual, then meet me downtown.
My task is to get the dog worn out enough so he can stay by himself without eating the house.

Off to the parade! D’s principal just sent out an email at 7:10am today excusing kids from school. All is good.
We’re bundled up (26 degrees) and pumped to share in the excitement. Now, if I can just find a parking spot at the Park N Ride to catch the bus…

I watched Russell Wilson on Letterman the other night. He is a good guy. I hope there are a lot of #3 jerseys in the crowd at the parade.

Seahawks strong safety Kam Chancellor (part of the Legion of Boom) on the defense does make big money . He signed a multi year contract worth 30 million +. He was not an early round draft pick but he has done very well. Congratulations to the Seahawks and enjoy the parade!

When one of the high schools had an issue with a class/ club sponsored field trip, the district said it was up to the principals even though the principal tried to say the district wouldn’t allow it, so it doesn’t surprise me that the district is referring back to the buildings.
I still think they should have made it be a field trip.
How cool to have the kids line the streets, after all most of the players aren’t that far out of school themselves.
Plus witnessing a historical event shouldn’t be left up to those whose parents can skip work.

What Seahawk clothing I have, will be buried under my warm coat. But I am deciding between my knee lenght leaf duffle coat or my knee length blue down coat. Or both.
I dropped H off at work at 5 am so he could take the bus to the show, but I went back home to bed.
I figure if I leave in an hr, it should get me there.
At least we live north of the route, SoDo is gonna be like New Jersey after the game.
More coffee. ~O)

Say it ain’t so!!!

Ya, I noticed that the RHCP weren’t plugged in to their amps.

re: the trickery
That explains why I had to turn up the volume just to hear the singing. The pre-recorded track was overpowering the mic mix.

Great parade! Officials are estimating 700k people were there. It was a cold, but sunny day – the typical rain would have kept a lot of people home (including me).

Well it wasnt as bad as New Jersey, but getting there, the traffic was so bad, I got off the bus and walked and on the return trip, we took a bus that should have gotten us home with a transfer, but there was everything else but…
So we walked from there too. I was glad I brought my cane just in case, but I felt bad for my pup being stuck at home all day.
So many people.
My H got on the northbound bus from Museum of flight & he sat next to someone who remarked " I guess I picked a bad day to go downtown!" ( he was an Eagles fan & was going downtown for something else)

Everybody seemed pretty happy.
( although I saw quite a few toddlers who were miserable and should have been taken home)

Question: What does a Seahawks fan do after the game is over?

We got there about 8 am and got in the second row right behind a group of couches. My son’s friend texted him saying that HS classes were at only about 1/3 attendance.

There were a few problems with the parade, though. It started about an hour late. Second, it wasn’t really a parade, more of a processional, as the only thing other than the police and the team was the Blue Thunder drum group. Third, once the actual parade showed up, all hell broke loose with people running out into the road, thus waiting patiently for hours became moot.

Another interesting thing, there was lots of very public pot smoking among the crowd, disturbing given the number of little kids around. I hate to be an I-told-you-so, but …

Answer: Watches the second half.

I had a doctors appt up on pill hill at 9:30, so I figured I’d just stay downtown and enjoy the show. Older daughter’s friends changed their minds about going, so I picked her up from work and we headed out together. Even at 9am traffic was bad. We left the car in the hospital garage and walked down the hill. Since we were on the east side of 4th, we had the benefit of being on the hill and being able to see everything. We met my sister and a niece (they had tickets to the event at the CLink), and enjoyed hanging with 700k of our dearest friends.

Lots of stories from those around us about full buses and trains, the cold, and parking. Everyone was in great humor. Once the players and coaches appeared it was noise, chanting, and clapping. So much fun and so happy I got to go with D.

I couldn’t believe all the kids out of school and so many there with mom and dad.

The only people I saw smoking pot were teenagers, who probably would have been doing that regardless of the legality. I told them to knock it off, plus they were blocking the sidewalk.
My h had a great spot, but he was on the west side & I was on the east.
Also cell service was abysmal, I had to go into Westlake to get reception.
But so many people who had obviously spent hundreds of dollars on anything that was blue/green.

We parked at SeaTac and took the light rail. Headed north from Westlake Center, stopping for brunch at the Dahlia Lounge, so that we had a great spot and saw the parade as it started. Then returned to SeaTac on the light rail while most waited for the parade to reach them. It was a wonderful day!.

I heard that the late start was because one team member missed the bus from VMAC and they had to figure out how to get him downtown.

Brrrrr…just returned from a long, cold day in Seattle. Waited 2.5 hours unsuccessfully in the bus tunnel for a ride home. All buses were full. Called husband and he drove down to pick us up. Yay for a warm car with the heat turned up to boiling. It’ll take a while to thaw out. Even with the cold, we made lots of great memories and took a million photos. I couldn’t tell who was more excited, the crowd or the players. Sheer joy. Marshawn Lynch was the first Seahawk player to appear, Russell Wilson was in the middle of the pack, and Richard Sherman was the last player on the parade route.

No question about the value of missing an early release day at school. D will have many fun memories she can share with her family in years to come. It’s been a crazy week with the Super Bowl, D’s 18th birthday, and today’s parade. Glad it’s coming to an end. I need to get back to work! Cheers!
