Well, today’s the day!
Just getting up and still in my calm before the storm state. One more day then it’s cold turkey! Thanks, all, for humoring me, putting up with me, education me, giving me perspective that I don’t get up her in my little corner of the country, challenging me, keeping me company in my obsession, etc. etc. I’m giving myself tomorrow to regroup and discuss, gloat or cry or whatever then Tuesday its on to real life. It will officially be what D calls the sports doldrums . . . that time between the end of football season and when pitchers and catchers report to spring training. So, enjoy the ads, enjoy the show, enjoy the game and may the best team win!
Now . . . off to see if the coffee is ready and climb back in bed with the newspaper.
Aaron winning the MVP was my Super Bowl win - the rest today is peanuts. (and other Super Bowl snacks…)
@saintfan Whatcha wearing to the game today?
I am not even going to attempt to keep up with this thread today, so everyone please forgive me if my posts are off-point.
Five hours before kickoff, I hope everyone plays well, I hope no one gets injured, and I hope the referees can swallow their whistles on ticky-tack calls and get it right on the big ones. No matter who wins, I hope the victory is convincing (but not a rout, which I’m just learning isn’t considered a legit win). I hope the victory is “clean” and no one can argue afterward that it was only because the other team self-destructed, or that the referees determined the outcome.
GO SEAHAWKS!
exactly - I hope that they both play hard and the game is “clean” and “fair” and doesn’t come down to an injury or wacky call or trick play on either side. I am still cooling my heels and trying to stay calm.
HAHAHAHAhahaha!!! Waiting for the national outrage and screeching from the talking heads at ESPN and weeks of wailing and teeth-gnashing over this:
[NFL investigating Falcons for piping in artificial crowd noise](NFL News, Expert Analysis, Rumors, Live Updates, & more - Yahoo Sports)
Oh wait, the Falcons finished 6-10 and have never won a dang thing. Never mind. No one will care.
The latest from not-so-DeflateGate:

Well none of that will matter in this game. No potential for wacky footballs or suspect home field advantage and they have the illegal substitution thing all ironed out now as well. I am hoping and expecting that it is completely straight up.
Good news for Seahawks fans?
Considering that Russell Wilson needs to paid this year, which will likely be $20mil+/year, it will be interesting to see if they run into cap issues and what decisions they make to keep it all together.
Or he just might retire!
[Seahawks offer Marshawn Lynch huge contract extension](Seahawks offer Marshawn Lynch huge contract extension)
I just happened upon this and thought it was an interesting little bit of insight
http://www.si.com/nfl/video/2015/01/29/marshawn-lynch-loud-what-i-do-and-quite-what-i-say
That is great news, but not as dramatic as Rapaport makes it sound. He was one of the outside press types beating the drum that nobody got along and that people thought Wilson wasn’t black enough, etc. etc. Everytime Lynch has back spasms or an upset stomach the national press is there with a Marshawn hates Pete story or Pete benched Marshawn. This guy is a total asshat and he has to pump up the craziness of it all to cover for being so wrong about everything.
They will have cap issues and have to make tough choices but if Marshawn only expects to play another couple years then Russell might take a bigger guarantee later to clear cap for a year or two. Also it has been kind of understood for awhile that they wouldn’t be able to keep Byron Maxwell and Wagner so Wagner gets paid and Maxwell has to make tough choices I imagine.
The best thing about having my team in the Super Bowl is that we get a long season. I’ll miss it tomorrow. Thanks, saintfan… I’ve enjoyed the cat’s adventures in Glendale.
And that cat has so many different adventures and outfits! My dogs are really missing out.
A friend I saw this morning pointed out that last year the news was that Richard Sherman talked too much, and this year it’s that Marshawn Lynch talked too little.
Go Hawks!
I’ve enjoyed following the adventures of saintfankitty too.
I am home in the rain watching pre-game on channel 13. I think kitty is still primping and getting the game time look ready.
And wearing the dog’s shirt until mine gets out of the drier.
I just heard that Tony Dungee was the one who voted for Bobby Wagner for MVP - interesting
I am ready.
Love the old school Patriot!
NBC is biased. I am watching TV since 1:30 PM and only hear about Seahawks so far.
