Not listed on their chart, but if it follows the other languages credit for 203 is conditional upon passing 204 with a 3, and a 4 or 5 gets you credit for 203 and 204 outright.

Most degrees only require foreign language through level 3 although some (like BS math) require 4 courses, or through 204.

so if I’m a bio major and I get a 4 or 5 on my AP, then I won’t have to take any language class?

I’m pretty sure you won’t:

i’m pretty sure you just have to PASS (get a 3) to place out of all foreign language.

203 is required by a BA in biology, 204 by a BS is biology. For a 3 on any AP language exam UNC seems to gives credit for 203 after one passes 204 (conditional credit). For a 4 or 5, UNC seems to give credit for 203 and 204.

no, i got a 3 on AP french (miraculously; my high school’s french department was a joke!) and placed out of 203 & 204.

I just realized there’s a PDF AP credit sheet and the one on their admissions site, they are completely different.

Okay I’m pretty confused. I perused the financial aid site for like an hour and i still dont know the answer to my question so I’d be super grateful if someone else could help: How do the Stafford Loans work if You’ve got a way to pay for books, tuition, room and board already? Do I just receive a refund check?

Yes. If everything is covered, (and you choose to take the stafford loan) it would be refunded directly to you.

How do we register for foreign language classes at CTOPS if the placement tests aren’t offered until late August (uncommon languages)? Should we just register for the lowest level even if we took classes during high school?

If you’re not taking spanish, french, german, or latin then you need to contact the specific foreign language department and they will advise you on what to do.

oo okay thanks alot =]

Oh! I’ve got another question: A school i toured recently said that they had certain restrictions on what you could do with their internet (for instance using file sharing programs etc.) Does UNC have a similar policy?

Yeah they do, but I heard theres ways of getting around it

You really can’t do torrents. My boyfriend was downloading a few CDs and got called in. He got a warning and had to go to this meeting where there were a few other students and a professor, and they all had to fess up to what they’d been downloading. Apparently it was really funny, but if it happens again they’ll get fined.

You can do torrents if you can find the ones that aren’t being checked…or something…I dunno, my ex-boyfriend was always able to get around it & he was CONSTANTLY downloading.

I have other friends who have had to go to honor code piracy class or whatever, though.

Is it true than UNC students are typically Duke rejects?

ouchhhh…from my point of view it seems like people are getting into both schools and picking UNC over Duke…I hope some current students can shed more lite on this as i’m just an incoming first year

Haha no, a lot of UNC students turn down Duke to come to UNC. UNC is a great school, much cheaper (particularly in-state), is in a better community, and frequently owns Dook in every sport. UNC students are much friendlier, and the campus and surrounding area is much safer as well (Durham is straight ghetto). For most people it is an easy decision to make.

My roommate turned down Duke for UNC.
