Ask Mike

oh mikey, where`d you goooooo?
i miss you sooo.

Mike, will you be answering these questions while we’re still breathing?

While Mike is on hiatus, I’ll fill in.

Pyar, Sanjaya will be voted off once we Dell users lodge a formal complaint to its Tech department. Because seriously, that’s who’s keeping him on.

Venkat89, you got that saying from the other kabillion people who say it all the time and you say it because…you’ve not found a reason to change.

CT, your computer is on fire because shut up.

you left out all of my questions.

I miss Mike :(

So do I! What EXACTLY really happened w/ him?!

The competition has scared him away.

799 - I’m not sure, I’ve never been there. I live on the other end of the Island.

801 - I think you can answer that!

802 - Douglas Adams claims it’s 42. I don’t know google’s answer. I’ve said that the meaning of life is procreation. That’s right kiddies!

803 - 6 * 13 = 78 base 10.

804 - yes, yes

805 - you asked on 3-26, I say today is good friday.

806 - penn rejected, I know a double legacy that was rejected, I dont think legacy means much anymore. NU rejected. CMC - in. GWU - waitlisted, USC - rejected, Umich - rejected. But what do i know?

807 - yes, but no significant enough to impact your decision.

808 - Not much is occuring presently, ct, I’m just catching up on the advice column community serive.

809 - wing it like a buffalo

811 - Sanjaya will be voted off soon, if she has not been voted off at all. Although, I hear the bad performers are not getting voted off this year. This makes me glad I don’t watch the program religiously.

812 - Funny, I say, I hate ____ with a burning passion of the Christ. Tomato Tomawto. Not sure where I got this from, nor where you did. You say it because you can. Yah not being mute!

813 - Cause you broke through the firewall.

814 - I always thought paper straws had to do with the packaging. I think America will be alright in terms of remembering its history and also in its innovation in the future.

815 - For the majority of your lifetime, you gotta work on that.

816 - For the majority of my lifetime.

817 - Commercials will be shown at specific time intervals.

818 - Buy a princeton review prep book. That’s all you really need. I never took any physics AP, but I did take the SATII in physics, and scored a 740. I think that had I taken the test, with a prep book at hand a 5 could have been very plausable.

819 - For an unwell person such as yourself, I recommend purchasing twenty matchboxes and start burning metal until it gets bent. But then people will say you’re crazy, but what will I care when I’m gone?

820 - Yes, I think so.

821 - Today I went to a strip mall, an indian restaurant and then the gym. I miss you too.

822 - I hope you haven’t died by now.

826 - I have been on this thread with less frequency because I’m at this wonderful time in my life where I need to decide which college I should attend. Will it be Columbia, UChicago, or Cornell? Only time will tell.

Mike, what are you majoring in? Those are some pretty darn good choices.
What would you choose? Hopkins or Michigan engineering?

Or better yet: Hopkins, Michigan, Cooper Union, or Northwestern?

^I’d go with Cooper Union because tuition is free and my loans are making me cry myself to sleep every day. I’d also choose Mich over Hopkins because Ann Arbor is the **** and Hopkins is a depressing place.

Mike, what do I have to do to convince you to go to UChicago? I never got the opportunity and want you to go there instead. Why do I feel this way?

mike
you wouldn’t mind putting the names of the people who asked nest to the answers because, in case you haven’t noticed, I usually forget the questions I ask?

GWB - At first glace, Cooper Union looks pretty sweet to me. The specialized school in the middle of NYC, that has no tuition and great City contacts. However, you have to ask yourself what do you favor in a college? Do you want a huge rah rah school spirit atmosphere. I know a girl who turned down Stanford for Michigan because of that atmosphere. What kind of engineering are you looking at? Hopkins specializes in bio, (with all those NIH grants and stuff) but there’s going to be a lot more competition. Do you want a large small or medium sized school? I personally could not stand Michigan’s atmosphere when I saw it so I would take Hopkins. Part of it is are you an instate resident of Michigan, because I doubt that the out of state cost makes sense for anyone with your options. I’m not sure how strong Northwestern’s engineering program is, but my best advice for you is to check out the campuses and see which one you could most see yourself at.

venkat - you are attempting to live vicariously. To convince me to go to Chicago, one must explain to me wholeheartedly 1) why I don’t want to study engineering, 2) why I find it necessary to live in a city of Chicago further from home than others, 3) that I feel comfortable with the student body, 4)that I feel comfortable with the academic rigor of the institution, and 5) that it is just all around better than Columbia/Cornell.

I’m going this Thursday to check this all out, so hopefully my questions will be resolved.

stuck - sure for this time. When there gets to be a large backlog, i find numbers more efficient.

Mike, what’s ur comment abt the George W Bush thread?! (which probably died by now, unless that dude doesn’t bump that up LOL!) :D

Hey Mike.

Here’s the problem…I’m not set on doing engineering. All the schools I applied to (except Cooper) have good engineering + business/economics programs. Cooper is the only school that doesn’t have business/economics. I’m set on not transferring anywhere (b/c I don’t want to deal with that). Is Cooper worth the risk/investment?

Mike, what percentage of people on CollegeConfidential are Asian?

mike! its been awhile since i saw you posting. prob cuz im never on anymore (love senioritis). what are your plans for next year?

Hi Mike. This is my first time posting here. I just have one really urgent question I’ve been wanting to have asked for the longest:
What does it mean if a platypus moos at you? Is that a warning sign or a friendly purring sort of thing?
Thanks so much,
Me.

Dear Mike,
Will you go to prom with me? If not (because we’re both guys and have never met, making prom really awkward) can you help me find a date?

Regards,
Venkat the Great.

Dear Mike,
what should I do this summer? I got rejected from TASP and my parents aren’t allowing me to do TRASP. I don’t have a car so I can’t take courses at any local university and I don’t have enough money to attend a university summer program. I’m at a complete loss now.

Thanks,
Karen

Mikey, my pancake batter, and the subsequent pancakes, came out dry. What’s the solution?
