Dear Michelle, should I go to nyu or syracuse?

^ why Michelle? shouldn’t it be: Michael?

how the hell do you have dry pancake batter?

Venkat, your AP physics teacher is wrong. You cannot do that integral in your AB Calculus class. (it might be done in AP Calc BC…but I never took that so i’m not sure). Anyway, you take that integral with infinite sequences and series.

It equals: x^(2n+1) / (2n +1)n! where n is part of the (sum of the series) [from n=0 to infiniti]

Too dry crouton. It’s like having dry bread. Even though the batter does have moisture, the end result is closer to cardboard than golden-brown and delicious.

Dear Mike,
If I forgot the Taylor Series and that other stuff from the end of BC Calc, should I retake Calc II next year, retake Calc III (in it senior year high school) or take Linear Algebra?

Dear mike,

Is it true that the Advice thread idea has run its course? (This and other threads as well).

mike -

if u had to choose between claremont mckenna college, ut austin adn uw madison, what would you choose and why?

Mike,

why have I run out of questions?

Well, I’ve made my final decision, and I’ve chosen to go to Columbia University!

Now to answer some questions.

833 - asif - The GWB thread, well its almost as far down as this is in the latest posts. Has everyone listened to Capital G by Nine Inch Nails. That explains how I feel about that thread.

834 - GWB - Well, if you are not 100% set on engineering, and think that you might be on the business side as opposed to the economic side on engineering, Cooper is not the place for you. It really depends on what kind of engineering are you looking at? Bio/Biomed? go to JHU for the NIH grants. Engineering that will get you a finance job? go to Northwestern. Pure science engineering go to UMich if you want to take econ on the side, and can handle the public school atmosphere.

835 - fizix - I’d say about 55% on cc are Asain. However, there does seem to be overrepresentation of URMs on cc than in real life and underrepresentation of whites. Just observations.

836 - gime - I’ll be studying engineering in the best school in the best city.

837 - sunshine - Are you sure it is not a cow? I don’t know. Consult an animal expert. I hate that part of AP bio.

838 - venkat the great - I will not go to prom with you. Sorry. In fact, I have enough work finding myself a date to help someone hours away from me. Use facebook and hit on hotties in your area.

839 - karen - the summer after my junior year, while others were going to gov school and the like, I decided to stay home and get an internship with local government. This was a very rewarding experience because I learned a great deal about how local government governs. It is not something difficult to line up. Just go to town hall and ask them if they would like and extra hand, doing gruntwork, and they are happy to hire you.

840 - ninja - Ihop.

841 - 6rings - if cost is an issue or if you’d rather have a campus and a traditional college experience, go to cuse. If you want a big city and NYU is better in a certain dept and cost isnt a factor, go to NYU and maybe we’ll hang out.

842 - Stuck - Michelle is french for Michael. Please ask mike.

843 - crou - I don’t have any dry pancake batter thankfully.

846 - venkat - I’m not sure how you are learning calc. Your best bet is to EPGY it, go at your own pace, and they will make sure you know the subjects you are weakest at. This is quite beneficial when you are not hindered by an AP test that you must prepare for.

847 - stuck - no.

848 - I would choose CMC, because it is not a large public school, which is something I would like to aviod. I liked the idea of the claremont system, and there are so many perks with that school it was redic, the dorm rooms were the biggest I had seen anywhere, you get to go on free trips all over the place, you are trained with a leadership focus that will enable you to suceed in jobs better than at a flagship public, assuming OOS, I would hate to have the fact that some people are getting the same education as me at a cheaper cost because they are getting to go to a school closer to home, cmc will give much more individualized attention, its in california, and you are close enough to LA that you can get there when you need to.

849 - stuck, you have lost the inspiration that inspires you to ask more questions.

Dearest Mike,

I am about to get slain by the AP Biology and the BC Calculus Exam. I’ve learned all the material in BC, but I have to finish my online class. The class finishes around the 22nd of May. The test is on the 9th. Right now I have a 99.2 but I still have to turn in all of my tests, which I’ll have to work on -> takes time -> time that could be spent directly preparing for the AP Exam. I’ve only taken Honors Biology, but I’m confident that I can do well on the AP Biology Exam. How do you suggest that I use my time over the next few days?

Regards,
CT.

CT - I find it funny that I’m going to in essense be competiting with you for the BC calc and Bio curves. I think if you know the BC material, get a review book, and take a practice test and see what you can really recall. I question how much you know bio, because my honors bio class left out a lot of the material that was going to be on the AP test, hell my AP class left out a lot of material that was going to be on the AP test. AP Bio is meant to be a 2 year class to fully understand all material, and you cramming it into one you doesn’t sound like a good idea. However, Bio has that extra weekend as it is on the 2nd week of testing, so I’m going to make good use of that, as I expect you shall. Make sure you look at the main topics covered on the exam on collegeboard.com to make sure there isnt a major chapter that you need to go over. My best advice is to get yourself off collegeconfidential.

I think I have strep throat. Symptoms - no voice, fever fluctuating between 101 and 102.5 (f, duh), chills, coughing. What course of action should I take to relieve myself of this condition?

Dear Mike,
I’m going to Penn next year (why didn’t you apply? do you not respect my school? cries self to sleep) and am taking Calc III in high school. I realized that there are some minor parts of Calc II I forgot like Taylor series and was wondering how much this stuff occurs in higher level math (I think I’m an Econ/Biomath major as of now). Also, congrats on choosing Columbia. We’re better than you at basketball :D

Venkat the Great

P.S.
Is it worth having a date to prom for the soul purpose of having a date? As in, you aren’t very good friends with the girl and she wouldn’t be in your group anyway. Is it worth going with her just to have a date, or is it better to go stag and have more fun?

mike,

I just realized I’m colorblind! But for years (well, forever, actually) I’ve been, and still am, able to see all colors correctly. Can you explain why, after several tests, the conclusion is that I’m cb when I can actualyl see all the colors correctly?
p.s. colorblindness runs in my family (my dad’s side). but I only found out today. lol.

854 - ninja - I have a sore throat too! I think the best short term cure is Orange Juice and the best long term cure is rest. Try Both!

855 - venkat - When I was starting out my sophmore year, I wrote that I wanted to go to Penn or UMich, well things change. I personally don’t like the city of Philadelphia. Its too close to home and whenever I go there bad things happen, car batery dies, flights delayed, parking tickets, ect. Nothing about Penn really excited me, except Wharton, but that seemed too difficult to get into and I question how valuable an undergraduate business degree is nowadays. I viewed NYC as far superior to Philly, and that was one of the key points in my Columbia interview. In short, I respect your school, because I know a few people going there who I respect, but I would not want to be there.

Taylor serise shows up again in Diffeq, but I think it is easily refreshable. You need Diffeq for both of those feilds.

I had one of those dates last year, who I really didn’t know well, and ended up ditching her, so yeah, its not worth the hassle. Now its really awkward with us, so you are probably best off avoiding any of that crap.

856 - stuck - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colorblind
I believe that Colorblindness is an x-linked trait, which means it was your mothers chromosome that made you colorblind. More males tend to get it than females because you only need one defective gene, as opposed to girls, which require two. There are many different types of colorblindness, so without more info I can’t explain why you can see all colors. Maybe you are just color sight impared. Maybe you think you can see all the colors, but in reality, you are blind to some, and you’ll never know what they are Bwahaha.

Mike,

is it possible to hit every branch on the ugly tree?

mike,
there’s a really important match on today (I can’t remember who’s playing though) and I might go out with friends to watch it. Should I go out or just watch it at home? (I’m not much of a soccer fan anyway lol)

mike, when do you think is the appropriate time to leave college confidential forever?

mike
how can i make my teachers stop giving me homework? im not doing it anymore
