Yes, well I really put my foot in that one, didn’t I? Renee, wish you could come too.

Finally! I found somebody willing to take S for me. I’ll need to pick him up by 5, but that shouldn’t be a problem since we are meeting so early. Looking forward to meeting you all!

LIMOMOF2, that is excellent news! I think jym626’s time constraints are such that you will have plenty of time to fetch your DS well before 5 p.m. I also need to “cut out” to meet another obligation that afternoon, unfortunately. This will be fun!

I noticed that the time seems to have moved up - but are we meeting at 12:30 or 1:00? I promised to try to run down to Soho to pick up bread for Jym - and I will do that if I can catch an early enough train - the earlier meeting time might make that a little more difficutl though.

Bread!!! Yumm!!! Well by ALL MEANS, LIMOM, come at whatever time you want!!! (Just no cockroaches or rat turds, please!) As the trains run about every 1/2 hr, some of us are getting in earlier than others. We are aiming for around 1. I’ll probably be a little earlier, as I will probably be onthe Train that gets in at 12:36 rather than the one that gets in at 1:09. Of course, my cousin just emailed me and asked if I wanted to try to catch a 2:00 matinee (Broadway). I told her we were meeting at 1 and it wouldn’t be possible to be at a show by 2. Her response? “Talk fast!”

Oh dear. jym, if you want to see a show, by all means, but my timing is soooo tight that I couldn’t be assured of getting there in time to see you!

Oh ReneeV- sorry, I didnt see your note.

Sorry you are “across the pond”. My older S is heading to Paris in April for his sr. design project. Where are you??

Funny you should remember the prom party. My s’s HS is hosting an Ultimate Frisbee Tournament the first weekend of Mar. (anyone’s kid coming to Terminus??) Anyway, they needed some families to host teams that couldnt afford to put their team up in a hotel. I figured it’d be about 5-6 kids, so I signed up. And oh, by the way, my H will be in Germany over that weekend. Come to find out its not 5-6 kids, but 18 sweaty, smelly players and their coaches Friday and Saturday night! Oh, and did I mention I had offered to help with our neighborhood’s progressive dinner Sat night as well? What was I thinking?!?!?!?! Oh, and to add to this, my s’s scholarship is of course contingent on his staying within the “code of academic and student conduct”. Well, as he is on the Ult Frisbee team, he has to stay here this weekend while we head to NY to take care of my dad. AAGGHH!! Can you say “party time???!!!?!?!” I have emailed the immediate world (including s’s gf’s parents!) that we will be gone for a few days. The neighbors are all in charge of him and assuring that no party will occur! I HOPE! This is not in my comfort zone! But we didn’t have much choice, and my h says I’d better get used to his being on his own! Lord get me through this!

NOOOO, mythmom. My cousin will cancel, as she usually does. I think she revels in screwing up plans. She really is a master at it. If one snowflake falls on Friday, she’ll cancel. I have learned NOT to count on her. She is a sweetheart with a heart of gold, but not too dependable.

That describes the “official” meeting time and place. Just do it! :D

jym-thought you were going to be on the train which arrived at 1:09? I was seriously looking into your suggestion that I switch train lines and get on that same train.

Okay thanks momof3sons. I had seen that post earlier, but then I read something about 12:30 somewhere else and got confused. 1/1:15 it is.

I had always planned to aim for the noon train. That never changed even with all the tweaking of the meeting time- but thats just to spend a little more time in the city. This is getting waaaay to complicated. For me- the plan is: take the 12:00 train to GCS (snow or no snow-- be there!). Wear black. Bring DH. Eat cheesecake. No thong.

So – more or less, give or take, how many people are going to be there? (I am heavily ambivalent myself, with dinner guests on Saturday and a concern that I prefer having virtual friends to real ones . . . )

I go through Grand Central every day and waved at Juniors today and thought of 20 or so CC-ers sitting there being extraordinarily raucous.

You heard her! Just do it! :D

VeryHappy-Raucous-oh yeah! How many will we be? Hard to say at this point, still waiting on RSVP’s…taps foot…

VeryHappy, you should just come and have some cheesecake with us! Although I might choose potato pancakes instead of cheesecake. I think I had potato pancakes at Juniors last time I was there (the Juniors on the west side, not this one), and they were soooo good.

Current count seems to be about 8-9 cc’ers, a coupla spouses and 2-3 maybes. Twinmom and VeryHappy, if you’re in and want the list of contact info, email me soon, please (include name, email and ph # to be added to the list). So far everyone is comfortable sharing that info. Anyone else in the NY/NJ area, come on down!

About virtual/vs. real: I understand VeryHappy. But I feel really excited to be making a new life after empty nest and CC is showing me the way. I want to meet everyone.

The hardest part is revealing myself. I’m sure you’re all wonderful, but I am definitely going to go for it.

And D in London pronounced our meeting “fabulous” so with the kid seal of approval I feel triply confident.

jym: You make my head spin. Brava for all your energy!

^^ Energy rapidly depleting. Turning over the helm of any further organization of this event to momof3sons at this point. My email will be limited and my time will be even more limited. Thanks momof3!

VeryHappy: Go for it. I’m in!

would y’all please just take pictures and post somewhere… we’re jealous. Those of us within 2-hour radius are vowing to make it next time! Enjoy…

Whoa IvoryK!
