I think what is most frustrating (and always with admissions) is lack of transparency concerning when results are coming. I appreciate schools who give a few days notice, like UGA. It seems different people were given different “official” information. Even at WED we heard “in just over a week” as well as “this week” as well as 15-18. Then D26’s friends met an admission rep who said it will “definitely be this week and you’ll likely be at a football game.”
I don’t doubt they’ve had an unprecedented large number of applications and I am sure they are working non-stop to get it done. However, I think so many of us would feel better if a someone in an official capacity could publicly acknowledge that. Just frustrating..
Congrats to everyone hearing back from other schools that they have been accepted.
Just want to send good thoughts to all of you! Popped in to see how this year was going- I was in your position last year and I’m happy to say our child is at Auburn and loving it!
I saw on Facebook where some people said there child’s Auburn portal is now locked. That is not the case for my son. But I’ve also never seen or heard of a portal being locked. Does anyone know what this means?
Was everyone also invited to apply to the Honors College? Reading tea leaves at this point lol. We at OOS with Bright Futures being a big draw to stay in state for many. I’m guessing a lot of people will get in after a deferral this year.
My son was invited to apply for HC and he is definitely on the deferral/accepted bubble. So I would not read anything into it. Honestly based on the fact this is my second go around with Auburn and college admissions in genera, I don’t think there have been any tea leaves to read here so far. The wde is way for colleges and the local area to make money. Everyone is going to get an invite. When you got it or the wording matters little. The special invites are more telling.
The only thing of note so far was the number of applicants. But that was also expected just based on application and admissions trends for Auburn and other similiar SEC schools the last four years.
We are in FL too. My daughter is in line for the top Bright Futures award AND we did FL pre-paid, but she’s a horse girl who wants to be a horse vet and just fell in love with Auburn in general and the barn facility and all the opportunities there. Auburn has a very unique situation with the barn so close to campus. So here we are! Lol!
Agree we are on that stats bubble as well so figured as much. This is our second go around too - my son was the 22-23 admissions cycle and was much easier then for the southern schools. Got in to Auburn and FSU with lower stats and now we are sweating both. Ended up going with Lehigh though and not staying in the south! Crazy how things change so quickly.
I think my daughter is borderline in terms of deferral/acceptance but she was not invited to HC. So TBH if you think even borderline kids are getting HC invites, then we probably need to reset expectations. Curious what makes you think that everyone is getting that invite?
no- not invited and didn’t expect her to be. Surprised to hear that “everyone” is though. That makes me think they are only accepting Honors kids. to the school in general this year.
