what’s the next EA date?
Thank you I have emailed my counselor all of those date I still should know, my decision by now.
fwiw, my son hs 2024 had everything in for 11/15 ea deadline. wasn’t notified until early Feb. current son had everything in for 10/15 deadline, and we are still waiting. another boy in his class is in the same situation. you aren’t alone!
okay thank you that makes me feel so much better i emailed my counselor and they said i should have my decision soon
DD deferred, OOS, 3.75 weighted GPA out of 4.0, 8 AP classes (3 with 4s and a 5, then taking 4 more this year), 7 additional Honors classes, tons of ECs, including Varsity track (4 years) and Theater (4 years), +part time job during school year. Didn’t report SAT scores. Applied as a Business/Marketing major. Auburn has requested 1st semester grades when finalized.
Were ED3 decisions released last night?
OOS daughter deferred from EA2 last month with 4.6 GPA, 11 total AP classes, didn’t submit text score (regretting). She completed the 150 word “essay” last month. Any advice on what to include in the 2nd essay opportunity? (They let you submit twice). Seems like a very general prompt. Do they ever review ECs, recs, etc…?
I was curious about this - do both statements get read or does a second statement replace the first one ?
I don’t believe so. Last year EA III was released on 12/20, so I’m thinking possibly this coming Friday 12/19, if they keep within the same date range.
If you look at their most recent published common data set, test scores and GPA are very important, rigor of school record is important, and state residency is considered. Everything else is not considered. Whether that changed this year, I’m not sure, but it doesn’t appear to have changed.
Does an OOS deferral from the Nov 15 date mean a possible acceptance in December? Or continued deferral? Is rejection a possibility or do students just not hear anything until March?
There are some members here who have received acceptance in subsequent EA rounds after being deferred so, yes, your child may be accepted this round if they were deferred in EA II. Good luck!!!
Hi all. For any of you who have firsthand student experience at Auburn, question: We’re NC based (coastal, so think as far east as you can go without swimming) and my DD has been (very gratefully!) accepted to Auburn, Clemson, UGA, and UT. She would be an exploratory studies / undecided major at all; I anticipate she’ll end up in communications field with a business minor. She LOVES Auburn, but is starting to get really antsy about how far it feels from home. She really liked Clemson, but the cost is just enough more to make us all pause (even her). She honestly applied to UGA at the last minute, so doesn’t have strong feelings there. We haven’t yet visited TN, but plan to do so the week between Christmas and New Years (I know it’ll be empty, but that’s when we can do it).
She wants a rigorous but not overly-competitive; great community/culture; an exploratory studies program that will help her consider a few different paths. She is a fantastic student, but also social. Plans to rush. Really just looking for a good solid college experience.
Any insights from this crowd that may help me guide her? I’d particularly love any “Why we love Auburn” insights. ALSO: Part of what she’s trying to wrap her head around is the idea that she’ll likely need to fly to/from ATL to come home (versus driving as it’s a pretty solid 9.5/10 hrs), and that makes things feel like “a lot” at this stage.
PS: If you are part of the Clemson or UT threads, you’ll likely see my question there too-![]()
Thank you all!
My daughter also got into Auburn and U of Tennessee, as well as a few others. She absolutely fell in love with Auburn when we visited and has committed rather than even waiting for other decisions. We are from the northeast and it will be a solid 2 1/2 hr flight. My older child is in school in Oklahoma and that is 2 flights (no direct). Though it’s not overly convenient, it has been totally fine. We talk every day and thanks to FaceTime. It really doesn’t feel that far away. I think Auburn is such a warm cozy school that even being a flight away will feel comfortable!
Do we think EA3 will be released tonight?
We are from suburban Philadelphia, initially Auburn was just another school to visit on our tour of the SEC. Our first visit was to Tennessee and it was amazing…great school……Later that summer we toured Alabama, Auburn, FSU, UF, UGA. For some reason the first minute we arrived at Auburn, it had a slight, small scale “Villanova/Main Line” vibe (the downtown and IMMEIDATE surroundings). Villanova/Main Line is an upscale suburb of Philadelphia.
Auburn is a hidden treasure, as it was the only school my daughter applied to and she was admitted EA round 1. She just finished her first semester and loves the school and the experience. She did automatically qualify for one of their out of state scholarships and received an additional small AUSOM scholarship in March. If she would have applied to UTK and got in, they she would have qualified for more OOS merit scholarship money.
The only stressful thing we had to encounter was housing. Since she committed quickly she was able to get a 4 person suite in South Donahue. Besides housing we could not have asked for more from this school. If she did not get in she would have applied to UTK, but it was not necessary. Auburn is in a great location being 90 minutes to the ATL airport where many flights go back and forth from Philadelphia each day. Flying to ATL is much cheaper than flying to Knoxville, Birmingham, Tallahassee etc. From a parent perspective, the summer orientation was very through and helpful. We felt as if the administrators really care about the students. The “Auburn Family” motto….is actually genuine, not just a marketing gimmick. During the “First 56” days of school there is a new campus activity each day geared towards getting new students involved. Administrators are commonly seen at these events interacting with kids. Dr. Lady Cox and Dr. Woodard who are administrators are commonly interacting with students and available on campus. They also provide PHENOMENAL ADVICE about how to “parent” college kids.
It’s only been one semester for my child, but we could not be more impressed with AUBURN! It truly is a hidden gem of a school, I wish their admissions would market the auburn experience so more kids see how special it is. Alabama and Tennessee admissions are always popping up on social media, Auburn needs to improve in that area, it is an amazing place, they have a lot to brag about!
Daughter (OOS) was deferred in EA round 1 and just received an acceptance tonight (EA round 3?). We didn’t even know that was a possible thing, so she’s thrilled!
My daughter too!!! Yay! Like an early Christmas present!!! Congratulations to your girl!
