My son received housing info and housing registration time (Nov 30 was the slot). He was EA2. No merit info yet for Heritage or Charter, though university scholarship office said those tiers would be considered in Dec and Feb.
Did anyone talk to admissions before they closed today? They are closed until the beginning of January. I thought the next round of EA decisions came out mid December. So wouldnât that mean that they have to come out today?
they also are supposed to release âmid December merit decisionsâ.
No idea whatâs going on with them
My daughters decision posted. Accepted!! Pre-vet/animal science
OOS
Accepted in October
31 ACT
4.3 w GPA
Notified today of $11,000 merit scholarship per year. Yea!
Accepted! 3.9 UW, 4.21 W 1250 SAT Early Action 3.
My kid accepted too! 3rd round EA, OOS, 4.2gpa, 1270 sat, 7 APs, Business Major
Do they give any merit just for gpa or does SAT have to be 1350 too?
My teen had major test anxiety about the SATs determine his whole future and just couldnât get a better score.
My daughter got in EA1 with a 1370 SAT, but still no merit scholarship. We are also OOS, so without it she will go in state
my son has 1400, also applied EA and just got his merit award on Friday. I donât blame for being impatient, but I think there is a good chance she will get something. That said, they reduced the merit award considerably from what was listed on their website.
I think the next round of merit aid comes out mid-February, per an email I had with University Scholarships earlier. So maybe those who were just accepted EA3 have a chance in that time period?
I think thatâs the reason they will ask students to accept or decline their merit scholarship. It will allow the school to reallocate the funds to other students they may be more serious about attending the university.
yeah but very few will reject it. Why would they? Most want to keep all their options open. They will find out in May how many are actually rejecting it (those who donât enroll)
This is made more challenging by the way that the dates for different schools are spread out. My kid has schools in a couple of categories - for example, big state schools, or small schools, etc. Kid would LOVE to have enough information to narrow it down to 1 school from each of kidâs categories - there would likely only be 2-3 schools being considered at this point. But, without knowing merit, kid doesnât want to eliminate any of the 6 schools - when 3 are very similar from an education and vibe perspective, why wouldnât you go with the one that offers the best $? We applied EA everywhere, but will get acceptances over a 3 month period and merit offers may be spread over 4 months.
Housing question. Can someone explain the process for housing request/applications? Are you only able to submit a housing app during a specified window? Can you only get the window once and if you submit an app after your initial groupâs window does it get picked up later?
I believe my son received his housing app via his Auburn University email. It had a time given at which he could register for housing (Nov. 30 at 3 pm). He was able to go in at that time or any time after that. He filled out an application and we paid the deposit. Later on, he submits a longer form with preferences/characteristics he sees in himself in order to choose housing later on, starting in March, I believe??? Someone can correct me if Iâm wrong.
You are correct. After acceptance, your student will receive an email with a window to apply for housing. The deposit is $100. After that, your student can create a profile in the housing portal and start to look for roommates. Keep in mind, that any communication to/from roommates appears only in the housing portal. It does not push to any email account. They will need to periodically check for messages. Then in February (I believe), my son got another email giving him a time slot to select his specific room and bed. His time slot was in late March. The enrollment deposit only needs to be paid prior to selecting your room/bed. Hope this helps!
Has anyone received notice of merit scholarships yet?
we received notice (sent to sonâs auburn email) in mid December. For the OOS Heritage scholarship
Thank you and congratulations. My OOS would qualify for Charter. I wonder if the amount of Charter scholarships are less this year due to quality of applicants.
they reduced the Heritage award sadly. It was supposed to be $15K and they offered $11K. So I suspect the Charter will be reduced as well. I keep hoping they will offer more $ once the dust settles. Auburn is still pretty pricey for us out-of-staters
