Auburn University Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

We visited last spring and DS was admitted. Do you think attending War Eagle Day will be much different or should we wait for admitted students day to better help make the final decision? We are OOS and have to fly and drive so trying to decide if we hold off spending the money now or if War Eagle Day would be that much different from the amazing tour we had?

Let’s hope not. The OOS merit scholarships offered by Auburn is one of the things that make it very attractive to DS.

I guess it would be more exciting in the the sense that your DS is now admitted and I believe WED is different than just doing a normal campus tour. But, I get the expense part.

S24 was admitted in the first round of EA last year. He chose not to attend War Eagle Day. Instead, he opted to go back for a couple days in February during his winter break. He reached out to his admissions counselor and arranged to sit in on a class for his intended major, met up with a kid who was a current freshman to go out one night and see what the social scene was like (and also talk about the rush experience since he was interested), and just have a couple days in Auburn and see what the area is like. While he was there he received an invite to Talons Day for the following weekend but by then he had already made his decision to attend Auburn so he did not attend. We are from the northeast so multiple trips was not really ideal for him. He is a freshman now, living on campus in the quad and loving it so far. It is definitely academically challenging and he has made use of the many resources available to all students.

I will warn you that last year, S24 was in the range for a scholarship that was listed on the website as $11K. The entire rollout of academic scholarships was different than in prior years. The amounts offered all decreased significantly. In the end, the $11K amount offered the previous year was decreased to $7K. Each class competes with itself so they look at the stats for all the admitted students and make decisions based on that. Just wanted to let you know how it went last year so you do not count on a specific amount you ā€œneedā€ in order to attend because it may be different from what is on the website. The website did not update with the new amounts being offered last year.

Can anyone explain the main differences between Talons Day, VIT Day, War Eagle Day, and Admitted Students Day? Also when do they occur - I know War Eagle Days are in November but wasn’t sure about the others.

Which would be best for an admitted student from OOS who will only be able to visit one time and the goal will be to confirm if Auburn is the right place for them?

From my research, I’ve found the following:

VIT, invitation only based on test scores, dates are behind a portal log-in.

WED, invitation only, unsure of exact criteria, dates in November (all appear to be full)

Talons Days: appears to have been in March this year. That’s late for us, as I’m hoping she’s made a final decision by then.

Admitted Students Day appears to take place in April.

When did your student receive the scholarship offer? Was it a month after acceptance or later(ie round 1, march notification)?

It was a lot later than I thought it would be. He was admitted October 13th and I feel like it was not until March that he found out about the scholarship.

Last year Auburn only awarded the highest OOS merit tier in mid November and waited to award the other levels in mid December and early January, even for EA1 accepted students. The website says they will be awarded mid Nov, mid January and early February (so looks like they dropped the mid Dec award date).

I have a question about housing. So is it your understanding that you activate the email and then they send a time slot for you to fill out the housing request?

My son was deferred. He’s bummed. He will retake the SAT on Nov. 2. If he gets a better score and resubmits it along with the extra statement, is there a chance he gets accepted before the regular decisions are released? Maybe in the second or third wave?

If he has to wait until regular decision, that’s fine. He won’t check the portal again and again - but if there is a chance, he’d love to know so he can start making decisions.

Update: Contacted IT Dept and this is what they said about the continued ā€œinvalid usernameā€ issue: ā€œSo it looks like your account hasn’t been fully processed yet. If you could keep giving it a try later today and again over the next couple days, it should be processed around Wednesday. On Wednesday, if you are still unable to access your account, please give us a call at 3348444944 and we will see what we can do for you!ā€

Yes, we also reached out to the IT Dept and this was the response about the continued ā€œinvalid usernameā€ issue: ā€œSo it looks like your account hasn’t been fully processed yet. I would have him contact his admissions advisor at Auburn- they are usually really helpful.

One of my S25 classmates said that she is ā€œfinding out on Oct 15ā€. Aren’t all decisions are out for this EA1 round?

My D25 thought the same. (She submitted everything Sept 27th). It kinda looks like Round one was for EA submitted before Sept 15th and EA after will have a decision mid November. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

It did happen that way for my son, but I firmly believe every year/class can be different!

Another parent posted this earlier in this thread and it looks similar to the 2025 stats that were posted. I guess it evens out after additional rounds.

This is from November 2023 after EA1 and EA2 cycles.

My daughter submitted everything on 9/15 but the school didn’t submit the transcript until 9/26. The portal says ā€œawaiting decisionā€. I’m assuming we will find out in EA2 in November
