Watching Djokovic warming up right now on ESPN2 now I think. I was hoping to see the new Graphene Speed in action but his racquet is moving to fast to tell the difference between the IG Speed.

I have ComCast Internet service but no TV service and it’s nice that they provide ESPN tennis - it’s enough so that I don’t bother with cable TV.

The Djokovic match was a little routine so I switched over to Murray - Haase. First thing that I noticed is that both players are wearing ankle supports (inserts) in both feet. I could use one of those.

All the matches that are on TV courts will be on ESPN3. I watched several last night - though mostly FerV/Goffin, which went on forever. Nothing on now looks any better then what I’m watching on TC, though. :(

I rolled an ankle last Thursday in a match. It was quite painful when it happened but it’s getting better - I hope to be out on the courts in a week.

I think that a lot of players are either wearing aircast supports or taping their ankles - as a preventive measure - not due to current injury.

Be careful. My friend was out for months. She wears an ankle strap now.

Most of the players tape their ankles, though there are some stubborn ones. I can’t remember who it was but I recall the comms being quite perplexed that a certain player with known ankle problems still didn’t tape. Kim Clijsters, maybe?

I have sprained ankles twice and a wrist once. Recovery time in all cases was about six weeks. What I did last week wasn’t as bad. I’ve run about 20 miles since then and its getting better. Tennis would be a lot harder on it though.

I just have reoccurring tennis elbow. Other then that I’ve been very lucky.

but back to the tennis…I’m gutted for my Tommy. :(

^ Lots of guys wearing a lot of yellow, too. I think the manufacturers get together and decide on what the color of the year will be.

Was watching Wozniacki and Lisicki (sp?) and between almost identical outfits, blonde hair in braided pony, and identical games, it was literally impossible to tell who was who.

Martic was in yellow too - I think that she lost to Doi in red. Perhaps it has something to do with the light blue theme of the tournament.

The gradual move to stiffer and lighter racquets and stiffer strings has resulted in more elbow problems (my belief). The stiffer stuff gives you more power and who doesn’t want more power?

I’m at the edge of elbow problems with stiffness around 62. The PDR is in the 70s and definitely gives me big problems. I find that a heavy racquet also helps to keep the TE away. Also adding lead tape at 3/9 can improve torsional stability if the racquet is already a little unstable. I have tried the really flexible stuff at 56 flex (similar to what Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic use) and find that I want more power. Of course I might change my mind in the future. I would like to try something similar to what they use one of these days - the only problem would be if I liked them.

Perhaps it has something to do with the light blue theme of the tournament.

Naw, they do this every year, have a new color scheme in kit wear.

I’m still using my Wilson Prostaff (Pete’s racquet) that I bought over 20 years ago (and I play once or twice a week all year round.) Wilson has always been head heavy. I have an extremely small grip and because all the test racquets have such big grips I can’t tell if I would like them because I can barely hold them in my hand. So, until my racquet falls apart, I can’t switch racquets.

I only plays dubs now and my games are very social (no league) so I don’t really care if I don’t have a really powerful racquet. I’m very tiny and my strength is my speed and quickness around the court, anyway. And I like the exercise I get from all the running around I have to do. :)

Watching Gael and Dog at the moment. Very, very entertaining match. Best match of the day, by far.

Kimiko Date Krumm takes out Nadia Petrova, 6-2, 6-0!
Truly incredible- at 42, she’s the oldest woman to win a GS main round.

I use gut or synthetic gut- much nicer on the arm and you get better feel. Recently I’ve began using a mix of poly and gut and it works nice, though it breaks easier. If you string a bit looser too, you get some power thrown in too.

I haven’t played in a bit (so busy with school et al) but I use mostly prince racquets- the O3 Hybrid and the O3 black or whatever. Once I start playing again, I think I’ll go for a heavier racquet- I got my old ones when I was 14, when I was somewhat weaker.

Ooh and Raonic-Rosol in R2…hope Rosol doesn’t repeat his Wimby performance, for my country’s sake ;)

Pro Staffs range in stiffness by the various generations. Sampras also leads his racquets to around 14 oz.

I think that was true for their Hammer line but the last three generations have had headlight models in the 90 and 95 models.

Most demos come in 4 3/8. If you want to experiment with smaller stuff, your usual best bet is to borrow from others that use small grips.

I find somewhat of a loss of control with synthetic gut and multifilaments and they typically don’t last as long as full poly. But yes, much better for your arm.

That’s the Champion’s Choice movement that Roger seems to have started. It’s a pretty pricey way to go.

I used to use Wilson but their poor quality control got to me - it’s hard getting similar racquets. I use Head racquets these days and am happy with them. I think that the brand doesn’t matter that much as the bigger companies have a wide variety of models. What I really like is getting a set of frames that weigh the same, are balanced the same and play the same.

“I think that was true for their Hammer line but the last three generations have had headlight models in the 90 and 95 models.”

My Prostaff precedes the Hammer! And of course I know my racquet is nowhere near as heavy as the ones Pete actually used!

No one I know uses as small as grip as I do.

I’m lucky if I remember to even get my racquet re-strung. I usually start playing like crap several weeks in a row until it dawns on me.

But, as I said, it’s only social and we are getting worse with each passing year (lots of yakking going on.) Our club pro even came down one day and suggested we should just go out for breakfast instead! They stick us out on the farthest court under the bubble so we don’t bother the serious ladies. But we have fun.

Nishikori started slow but played some amazing points yesterday. Nobody next, and then Ferrer… and then Tipsarevic. If he is totally on he can do it.

Don’t think Raonic is on a televised court kjschvfsdhkgj

Hope to see Serena at 100% today and I finally get to watch Tsonga play (first match of the day there, so 7 pm here).
