Australian Open 2013

Roger in pink accents against Davydenko. Cameras kept going to his shoelaces.

I left the TV on when I went to sleep in an effort to watch Venus vs. Sharapova. Only woke up twice, once to see Sharapova won the first set and once at the end of the match. Oh well.

Yea, sad.

Annoyed that Raonic/Kohli is the last match on that court. It’ll be starting at like 1 am and I have my UChicago interview tomorrow.

Saw some of the Baghdatis-Ferrar match. Baghdatis is entertaining to watch. I have no doubt as to who won though. Baghdatis is best known for sitting down and smashing four of his racquets in the middle of his AO 2012 match.

Watching Berdych - Melzer right now. Melzer has a yellow shirt. Both are wearing fluorescent yellow shoes. Berdych is still with Nike for shoes but I read that he’s with H&M for clothes now. The biggies aren’t sponsoring as many tennis players this year so many players are with smaller clothing companies. I think that Nike has allocated more money to golf and has pulled back in tennis.

Raonic won <3

Tomic lost <33333333

Yay for Milos! On to Roger. That will be a tough one.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Berdych - Melzer match.

Berdych played like a top-seed. Basically he took care of business and put in a good effort in an early round. It was different than watching Murray, Federer and Serena putting in less than a full effort but winning easily anyways. I’m sure that will change with the next round. Federer can’t take Raonic for granted.

Surprises: Seppi beat Cilic and Chardy beat Del Po.

I’ve watched Seppi because he was the only pro playing with a racquet that I used to use. Although I don’t think that he really played with it - I think that he was using a PJ.

Cannot believe (though why am I not surprised?) Espn showed repeats of Serena and Roger when Gael/Simon were playing live. Then repeated them for a third time.

Very disappointing match from JMDP. He needs someone to give him a smack upside the head.

I thought Bernie gave Roger a good workout. NID but not the beat down of last year.

Love RF’s shoes. He’s such the fashionista.

CHIHSIS, hope your interview went well. I did my masters at UofC and it’s a special place.

Interview: It was good. It was originally scheduled for 11 but I asked to change it to 1 to watch the match, which I mentioned to him xD Thanks for the comment :D

I’ve read the Simon/Monfils match was terrible to watch, errors galore, etc. After the match apparently Simon was so exhausted he basically passed out on the bench and needed help walking off the court. I like him but he hasn’t been 100% since like the French Open.

Nishikori vs. Ferrer is the 2nd match on the main court today, which is a great time and I’ll be able to watch all of it. I’m thinking the Nishikori run ends today in straight sets, but he has beaten Ferrer before (Olympics most recently). GO KEI!

Raonic vs. Federer - And this is where Raonic’s run ends too :frowning: Federer has won every time they’ve played, and he’s also beaten Isner almost every time as well. But Milos does usually take a set from him, so maybe it’ll be an epic 5 setter with Milos winning! But I doubt it. Sucks.

Watched the Tomic/Fed match. Tomic played quite well (had more UFEs than I would have liked). Federer was playing quite well too.

My friend who was at the match said the Gael/Simon match was 3 1/2 hours of dull and appalling tennis and an hour and of half of riveting entertainment and drama.

Kei cry Stop being injured.

Tipsarevic retires.

Simon apparently goes to the hospital from the Monfils match.

Djokovic! Just saw the fifth set but it was awesome! Wawrinka hit some ridiculous backhands. But Djokovic is still the man!

Bleughhhh.

I watched the last set of the Wawrinka vs. Djokovic match. WOW! I feel sorry for Stan. He played a good match. I wonder if Djokovic will have anything in the tank for his next match.

Wawrinka facepalm

tx4athome: I’m sure he will be recharged. He is in unbelievable shape. Of course, if the heat is really bad, that could have an impact. Hope I can watch that match.

Liny: Luckily it was played at night and he has a full day to recover, and he does look like he is in incredible shape, so I think you are right he will be fine. I don’t think Wawrinka would have recovered as well.

“Wawrinka facepalm”

I can’t believe he listened to that stupid Molina.

And someone needs to tell Djoko to stop taking his shirt off. shudder
