Barnard Class of 2025 — Decision Date: Mar 31

probably sometime in the march 20s

it’s most probably march 19 (cause that’s the accurate date according to trends from the past few years) or march 22 (cause that’s the award letter date for financial aid) all the best!

is anyone else just getting wildly nervous? it scares me so much that ao’s only look at your app for 15 minutes, and now less bc there are so many more applicants this year…

I’m nervous too but glad that decisions are coming out early in comparison to other schools.

Do we have a confirmed date?

Not for decisions, just financial aid awards (22nd I believe)

Do they announce the decision date a few days or a week before the date?

does anyone know how many applicants there were this year?

im guessing maybe around 10,000-15,000 especially because of covid

I have not seen any Barnard specific numbers.

Barnard had, I believe, 9411 applicants last year.

Overall, applications seem to be up by about 10% (10% more common apps were submitted to colleges from roughly the same number of students). It makes sense that these would be concentrated among the more selective schools (including Barnard). A 35% increase in applications would be inline with reported increases at Tufts, Brown and Harvard.

That said, I will guess 12674 applicants this year.

If applicants were jelly beans it would take 13 one gallon jugs to hold them all.

And theres only around 600 more students that will be accepted this year, correct?

Barnard’s website has this info for the Class of 2024:

First-Year Applicants:
Total Applied: 9,411
Admitted: 1,280
Acceptance Rate: 13%
Applied through Early Decision: 1,242
Percent of class admitted through Early Decision: 45%
697 enrolled students

That suggest about 315 were admitted through ED. Somewhere I read that Barnard had a 55% yield rate, which, if I understand it correctly, implies they accepted about 950 via RD last year (697 Enrolled / (315 ED + 950 RD)) = 55%

I would guess yield rates would go down this year . . . everyone applied to more schools and they can only go to one (this is not a given . . . acceptance rates going down sufficiently could mean yield rates stay the same, but . . . ) so I would expect slightly more acceptance letters to go out.

I will guess 988 accepted during RD.

I like that they release all their decisions at once but it’s so annoying being in a different time zone  I have to wait until 1 am :sob:
