Evoldi left it all out there. Unfortunate way to end it. It’s good to be the home team.
I am impressed at you east coasters who stayed up for the whole game! I tried but after having a few glasses of wine I feel asleep on the couch around the 13th inning.
I gave up after the 13th inning.
Cora outsmarted himself, he should have intentionally walked Machado to men on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs, creating an easy force at any base for the win.
The Sox let this one get away.
Tough making that 8:30 tee time after watching all 18 innings. What a shame any team needed to lose. Incredible game. Eovaldi was a rock. Kid is amazing. Will become a awesome starter int he rotation next yr. Don’t take it out on Kinsler. That’s baseball. Next Play! Next Game!
I’m dragging today as well. If we’re tired from watching imagine how the players must feel after a 7 1/2 hour game! Even though they were playing in LA both teams had just come from Boston so they were probably not yet fully on PDT (West Coast time.) It will be interesting to see how Alex Cora manages the Red Sox bullpen tonight.
He went for the kill. I’m good with that. Tonight will be a challenge for sure.
Did anyone watch tonight? We weren’t expecting the Sox to pull it off tonight so it was a pleasant surprise. Steve Pearce was the man.
Unreal!!! Texting my mon and my son all game. Three generations of rabid fans are happy tonight!
I watched, I turned away when LA had the bases loaded, I turned back to a 4-4 tie. Then the fun began. I will watch the replay later.
It was still hard to watch Kimbrel pitch that last inning.
Just heard Sale isn’t pitching tomorrow, that it will be David Price.
Kimbrel is sooo hard to watch. It’s weird. Most of the time he’s better with a one run lead than a big margin. Has to be mental. Don’t care that he gave up the dinger. Can’t stand that he gave up a lead off walk when trying to lock this thing down. You just can’t do that, period!
Surprised by decision to go with Price tonight. I assume Sale will be available for 2 innings in relief. I’d take Sale over Price but Alex Cora can do no wrong these days so cool with going with it.
That stork-like pose when he’s looking for the sign is strange. I figure it’s just a pitcher’s version of a baseball ritual/tic, like the batters who have to touch both sides of the plate or brush their forearms before batting.
I’m all about David Price, so I’m excited for tonight. I hope he has a good outing, which I recognize is not always the case.
Yes, David Price is a great pitcher, and an even better human being. I will be cheering for him tonight.
I think they’d rather have him pitch in warm weather, he has some sort of circulation issue that causes his fingers to get numb in the cold.
Plus, Sale is still not 100% and could probably use the extra days off.
Price didn’t have the “tingles” in Game 2, but I agree, they would rather him pitch in the warmer weather. He did great in game 2 but looked really uncomfortable especially towards the end of his outing. I think he was relieved to not be asked to go back out there in the 7th. If he wins tonight, he has a strong shot at series MVP. Wouldn’t that be an interesting turn of events? From 0- October (career) and a major Red Sox disappointment to WS MVP.
I still think they’ll trade him in the off season if they can get another team to pick up his option (or a chunk of it). They owe him 30M for another 4 yrs. Crazy!
But, tonight is his night. Go DP!
I love the game, but I really love the stories that I read about the players. This one warmed my heart. Way to go, Mookie Betts!

Pearce: 4 for 12 with 4 BB, 3 HR, 8 RBI, .500 OBP, 1.167 SLG
Price: 2-0 with a 1.98 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP, with a relief appearance as well
Who gets the MVP?
Assuming the Red Sox hold on, of course.
We were just asking the same thing!
(with our fingers crossed)
I think Price will get it.
Did you know he was 0-9 in 11 playoff starts before the ALCS?
It’s too good a story of redemption, especially on 3 days’ rest.
David Price is my favorite professional athlete. I am so happy for him.
