Baseball Playoffs

I’m a fair-weather baseball fan, and right now, the Brewers are brightening a very dreary day. Thank you, Brew Crew!

Congrats to the Brew Crew!

And of course big ups to the Dodgers on their sixth consecutive NL West title!

And the Dodgers clinch the NLW. #goblue! :D/

Trivia:

Max Muncy hit the first home run of the Minor League Baseball season. Walker Buehler started that game.
Max Muncy hit the last home run of the Major League Baseball season. Walker Buehler started that game.

Dodgers:
Set their all-time attendance record, best in the MLB this year, sixth highest in MLB history.
And of course, the Dodgers started the season 16-26, fell nine games back in the division, and on April 29, manager Dave Roberts announced they’d win the division anyway. What a ride–hoping for more!

Cubs still running on fumes.

I’ll say it now, that if the Cubs don’t win tomorrow I’ll be rooting for the Brewers to go and win the NL.

Um, this is obviously false, sorry–Trevor Story hit the MLB’s final HR in the 9th of Kenley Jansen. I’d blocked it (and the Nolan Arenado tater that preceded it) from my memory haha!

No one in Chicago expected the Cubs to be playing in a Wild Card game. I’ll bet Wrigley wont even be full tonight. What a big letdown. Milwaukee quite frankly is a better team and so many players for the Cubs underperformed this year.

Agreed that Milwaukee is really impressive this year. I’m a big Yelich fan, but I’ve also loved Jonathan Schoop for years. Today’s game should be fun; say what you want about the Cubs, but they still have a ton of talent, and both teams are playing for their lives. October baseball, baby!

The A’s will be “bullpenning” the entire wild card game tomorrow in NY. That’s got to be a first.

Interestingly, the A’s are the playoff team with the most roster players acquired as free agents. The team with the fewest? LA.

Not surprising, if true. But compare payrolls. I’m not an A’s fan, but they definitely get the most out of the least.

Absolutely, @sushiritto , and it’s super impressive (I’m also grateful to the A’s for DFAing the great Max Muncy, without whom the Dodgers would have won fewer games!).

It’s the month of Oktoberfest, the perfect time of year for the Brewers and Wisconsinites in general to celebrate. Or drown their sorrows.

1-1 in the bottom of the 11th and CO 3rd baseman Arenado and the Cub runner from 2nd base, Baez, just HUGGED on a potential DP grounder. That was really strange. :-??

^ Yeah, that is El Mago, Javy, the MVP contender. I don’t know what they were doing, but Arenado did not have the ball in his throwing hand, so he wasn’t going to throw anyway.

Javy prevented the double play. Arenado should of attempted then it would of been obstruction… But great plays this game… Cubs gotta do it so I can live the dream… Cubs/World Series Bears/Superbowl… OK forget it. Justin Wilson just came on.

Did anyone catch that the stadium organist played “I Could Have Danced All Night” after the hug? Loved it! lol

Arenado couldn’t attempt the throw, he went into the hug willingly with the ball still in his glove. He didn’t move it to his hand and had plenty of time to do so before the hug.

@bajamm that was my point… Gotta happen now… I have to go to sleep… Lol

I don’t really care who wins, but Milwaukee has to be very happy about the wear on the eventual winner’s pitching staff…
