Baseball Playoffs

Kershaw, wow. Buehler tomorrow.

And in other news, Gary Sanchez hit a 479 foot homer (!!!).

David Price has a mental block with pitching in October. Some people live for the big moments. Others can’t take the pressure on the big stage. Would never have signed him, especially to a 7 yr contract. Wish the front office would really consider personalities more than they obviously do. Same thing happened with Carl Crawford. Superstar in Tampa. Complete bust in Boston. In high leverage situations, it takes mental toughness and will / desire to achieve. Neither has either.

I believe they said on TV that Price is now 0-10 in the postseason. Wow.

The Price signing was one of a number of horrific contracts the Sox have done lately. I believe it was done more out of desperation to make a big splash and show they were “doing something” after the Sox finished last two seasons in a row. Plus Dumbrowski has an irrational blind spot where Price is concerned.

They are still paying Pablo Sandoval $19.5mil per year.

Everyone is hoping Price will lose his mind and opt out after the season is over, but no one in their right mind will pay him anything close to $31mil/year, so the Sox will be stuck with him for 4 more years.

^with like a 6.0 era. He just crumbles. That’s the difference between him and a pitcher like Chris Sale. Sale is still somewhat injured. Can’t get back his 98 -99 velocity. Has a shoulder problem that needs to be addressed. But he goes out there and battles and finds a different way to win. No more wipe out fastball. Ok, we’ll get them with a killer changeup. That’s why his pitch count was so high. Struck out 8 through 4 but not put with put away pitches. They kept on fouling those off so a lot of full counts.

Pedro’s advice to Price:

I hope Price takes it to heart.

^^^Agree. I hope Price listens to Pedro and gets himself right.

I hope the Braves can step it up.

If – huge IF – the Brewers keep up this pitching performance, they have a shot.

The key for them is to get into the 6th inning and hand a lead, or a close game at least, over to Hader and Co. in the bullpen.

The fear is that a hot lineup will get a lead on our average starting pitchers.

Red Sox offense needs to come alive. When they are clicking, hard to beat them. Need to be way more aggressive (like they were most of the season). Don’t like to see Mookie taking that 1st strike. Changes the whole at bat.

5 for $95 Million for the Panda was dumb. Even the “throw money at anyone in desperation” Giants wouldn’t pay the Panda. The Giants have a ton of dead money tied up with Jeff Samardzija and Johnny Cueto. And the Giants were hoping Cueto would have opted out before this past season.

The Braves are toast. The Dodgers are clearly the more talented team. And the Braves look lifeless. I’m not giving up on the Rockies, because Coors Field is a pinball machine.

And it’s Walker Buehler’s Day On, go blue!

The Brewers game was so good that maybe even the Packers are happy right now.

Five pitch first inning for Buehler…kid’s stuff is filthy.

Whoa, Walker Buehler meltdown. Did not see that coming.

…and it’s a whole new ballgame. Max Muncy, that funky Muncy, our perfectly rectangular boi.

Cora says he’s starting Eovaldi in game 3 because Porcello itched 2/3 of an inning in game 1 and wants him rested for game 4. Give me a break. He threw like 10-15 pitches max! I realize Eovaldi has has success against the Yankees in NY but Porcello is a competitor. He has that refuse to lose attitude. Hope that’s not a big mistake. Assuming Porcello would have won, I’d much rather see Eovaldi pitch without it being a must win in game 4 .

Acura and Freeman keeping the Braves alive!

Acuna

@rickle1 S23 also has vintage (at least to him, they were mine when I was young) Red Sox and Celtics pennants in his room and jerseys from every team. You can imagine how upset I was when he asked for new shoes for school this year and as I ordered them I realized they were some kind of Derek Jeter sneakers - with a number 2 on the back and everything!! I gave in because he really loved them but it was painful. To make up for it I just got him the new Patriots Nikes that I will save for Christmas.
