Baylor Class of 2025 EA/RD

A big part of why I love Baylor so much is that I’m a future religion major who wants to go on to get a PhD in early Christianity and Baylor’s religion department is world-renowned. I spoke with a USC religious studies professor at Discover USC in London and she included Baylor’s religion department in her top 5 list.

But some other reasons I’m 99% sure I’m picking Baylor:

  • I love that it’s Christian. I love that the vast majority of the student body will share my values. I love that I can be open about my faith in the classroom. I love that the dorms have chaplains. I love that there are chapels on campus. I love that there are Bible quotes carved on the buildings and pavements around campus - it just made me feel at home.
  • I love the size of Waco. Being from south London, I’m really ready to get out of a big city and move to somewhere more downhome so LA is a big turnoff for me.
  • I think Baylor’s size is perfect. UF is colossal and I definitely am worried about getting lost.
  • In my opinion, Baylor has the prettiest campus, especially being right on the Brazos.
  • I love the way the Baylor core is structured. It encourages so much exploration of different areas yet won’t force me to take any classes I’m not excited about.
  • I haven’t visited USC or UF (had my UF April visit cancelled last year) so I can’t comment on them, but of the 7 colleges I have visited, Baylor students were the friendliest, although all 7 were a step up from Londoners.
  • When I visited, Baylor just felt like home. As we drove out of campus, my mum said, “bye, Baylor” and my heart just broke; it was right then and there that I knew I would be back.

Thank you for your well written and thoughtful answer. You brought tears to my eyes! I’m hoping that my daughter has one of these moments that makes the choice clear for her. We’re really looking forward to our visit in a few short weeks!

I felt the same way about @CollegeBoundBrit’s post! So thoughtful, and it sure sounds like Baylor is an amazing fit!

Hi, my son got no merit but enough need aid for my husband to say, “at least they gave us something”. It was a combination of need aid, work study and two small loans.

I am not sure of the Acronyms are they from FAFSA?

Oops, don’ know how my post got deleted. EFC= estimated family contribution used in FAFSA. By COE, I meant cost of attendance.

I hope this helps, I did the Baylor calculator months ago and the COA is similar to our package (my husband did the FAFSA, so not sure of those numbers). I can not remember the exact number from the letter but our cost would be around 40,000.00 to 45,000.00 per year. So some aid but still a huge bill every year.

Thank you. I hope you shared this with your parents. It brought a tear to this mothers eye as well.

Thanks dear for replying back. I know it is a huge cost. We will be notified about the aid from Baylor by mid-Feb. My daughter’s first choice is SMU though, haven’t got the package from them yet, don’t have any idea about the aid right now. Smaller private universities give lot of merit aid though and state universities don’t give any…experience so far.

The three schools, Baylor, SMU and TCU seem very similar in the type of student that they are recruiting and the campus/student life. My son did not apply to SMU and was rejected from TCU so Baylor is our only Dallas/Fort Worth/Waco choice. I guess that makes it easier. As a parent I like that it is less of a party school and has the gentle religious overtones.

I agree with you, I have read good stuff about Baylor. It is good to know that it is religious. I have heard that TCU and SMU have more of rich kids. We are a middle class family though. The positive point about TCU and SMU is that these schools are pretty close to our location, 40 min drive.

Hello! I’ll be attending Baylor in the fall and have applied for many scholarships, such as Carr P. Collins and I2E (I have already attended my session, just waited for notification of rejection/acceptance). I was wondering if anyone knew when Carr P. Collins notifications will be released?

I think a couple years ago they mailed an acceptance in late March if they won Carr P Collins, and they got an email if they did not get it. It could be different this year though. I2E notification is Feb 15.

Has anyone heard back about the faculty scholarship yet?

I’m pretty sure decisions are released Feb 15

I thought maybe some people already heard back

Is it possible to stack scholarships? Like the presidential scholarship and faculty scholarship?

I don’t believe they stack - that’s what I recall reading or hearing. However, I could be wrong. I’m hoping that when people hear back today, they will post. Best wishes to everyone waiting on I2E.

What time will they release I2E? Any guesses?

Best wishes to all of you waiting for news today! Hoping for good news for my daughter but happy it will be life-changing, positive news for lots of kids today!
