It just could have gone so wrong and yet it’s so far so very right.
^^ True - and I love seeing Mike as the parking attendant!
OK… I totally saw the billboard stunt coming!
(H didn’t - usually he sees this stuff before me)
I started to see the billboard stunt coming once I saw Jimmy on top through the news camera’s vantage point. I did not see the first stunt with the wallet/Rolex coming. Jimmy was quite a punk in his youth. I don’t mind a willing suspension of disbelief, especially for Vince Gilligan. But I wonder how Jimmy was able to pass the criminal background check before taking the bar exam? Maybe it’s because his brother is such a great lawyer.
We now know the origin of the name Saul Goodman.
^ Love that we now know the origin. Very cleaver.

I didn’t see it coming, either.
Well, I saw it coming as soon as the guy ‘fell’ from the platform. I didn’t see it while Saul was setting the shot up, although I did suspect he was up to no good with it; I just didn’t know how it was going to play out until I saw the guy fall.
Anyone else have problems watching the part of that scene with him climbing up that ladder and and walking across the platform, then lying down to pull the guy up.
I logically KNEW that he wasn’t going to fall… I just knew it, but it couldn’t keep me from feeling awful.
Continuing to enjoy this show. I was glad to see more of Rhea Seehorn as Kim - she’s giving a very good performance as a smart, likable lawyer. I wonder what evil fate Vince and company have dreamed up for her …
I also like the slower pace of the show, which is quite a change-up from Breaking Bad, in the last three seasons especially. I like that the producers are letting us figure out Jimmy’s deal, his surroundings, etc. It seems to me as if Jimmy, even as the kind of guy who’ll take stolen money and stage that billboard stunt and has been arrested for who knows what, is really trying to do the right thing - especially by his brother, but even for his public defense clients. I get the feeling that something awful happens either to his brother or to Kim, at which point Jimmy will decide he just doesn’t give a damn anymore.
I thought last nights show was toooo slow. Agree that something BAD is going to happen to the brother.
I’m enjoying the slow unfolding of the drama - and that Jimmy/Saul will have such a detailed back story - athought admit it IS a shift from BB. That said, I think it’s pretty brave of Vince Gilligan to give fans something that, at this point at least, is still so far from the feel and pace of BB. They want BCS to exist in its own space & time.
I feel like Chuck has a brain tumor or something physical that would explain his behavior.
The toilet thing was not funny…otherwise enjoyed the episode including Saul’s decision to try a Matlock suit this time to help win over the senior citizens.
I breaking bad, I think in the first season at least, the pace of events were driven by the sense of urgency in Walter White. He was frantic to make a quick buck to take care of his family that he expected to leave behind very soon. Saul’s character is not under the same time stresses so his pace and the pace of the show might be reflected in that.
The “sex toilet” still has me laughing. Different strokes…
I would think Chuck has already been tested for something physical like a brain tumor. I think he has had a psychotic break.
I lol’d at the secessionist client.
“I wonder how Jimmy was able to pass the criminal background check before taking the bar exam?”
If he didn’t have a felony conviction, he’d probably be ok. He’d have to petition for character & fitness approval, and possibly have a hearing, but non-felons can often get through, especially if a lot of well-behaved time has passed since the arrests.
I would think so too @emilybee but it is interesting that Chuck’s diagnosis has never been mentioned by name.
We are wondering what is going to turn Saul from basically okay person whose worst fault is cutting a few ethical corners into the guy who later suggests Walter White ‘eliminate’ problem people.
I thought someone mentioned it in passing in one of the first episodes. Anyway, on wikipedia they refer to it as electromagnetic hypersensitivity.
We just watched last week’s episode, as well as this weeks, and I was surprised to find myself so interested in how Mike became the person he did. I’ve always liked Mike, but this new information adds a dimension to his character that I didn’t see coming.
This week’s episode was my favorite thus far.
I agree, great episode! Jonathan Banks was just exceptional. Didn’t we always know there was a tragedy in Mike’s past? I loved the granddaughter on the swings again, Jimmy spilling the coffee, and his line when he saw Mike in jail - “The mayor didn’t give you enough stickers?”
Also, never mess with Mike.
But in his head only right? The Doctor showed that when she turned on the power to his bed without him realizing it and he had no reaction. It showed Saul that there was no question that it was in his head, or due to mental illness.
