Hmmmm… no posts on this thread in 2 1/2 weeks. I thought last week’s episode was outstanding - it was heart-breaking to see what destroyed Jimmy and Chuck’s relationship. I thought their final scene was Emmy-award winning.
I really, really wanted to know how and why he switches his name to Saul, before this season was over, and didn’t find out. I guess they want to leave some questions unanswered for next season.
Did any of you believe Hamlin really wanted Saul at his firm? What about Kim?
How great was that montage of Jimmy and Marco cons last night? We could not stop laughing. Still wondering what will happen to separate Jimmy and Kim, his one loyal friend. Or if he just leaves her in the dust on the way to becoming Saul Goodman.
Enjoying this show, although I seem to have more challenges following some of the story. Some of the scenes are also so dark I have problem seeing the details. I am sure both of these complaints have more to do with me than the show
@teriwtt, I don’t believe Hamlin was at all sorry he didn’t have to bring a correspondence school grad into his white-shoe firm. Look how he treats Kim, with her UNM-Albuquerque diploma hanging on the wall; her first office was in the box room. I do think Kim is/was sincere in her efforts and friendship. Her choosing the safety of HHM over Jimmy’s corner office a few episodes back seemed to break his heart though. If she had made a different choice, Slippin’ Jimmy may have been gone forever (not that it’s her fault, of course).
The situation between Chuck and Jimmy is not far fetched despite the depth of Chuck’s betrayal. Birth order and longstanding family dynamics are difficult to change…Chuck clearly is invested in his view of himself as the competent one to Jimmy’s little brother/loser status.
I’m feeling a bit unsettled right now. H and I just got back from meeting with our financial advisor where we gave him a rather large check to invest for us… the unsettling part? He looks just like Bob Odenkirk! Yes, we’ve met him several times before, but I think coming in today after watching BCS late last night made it feel in my face. I almost texted H while in the meeting to say, “This guy looks like Saul. Are we sure we want to give him our money?”
So, what did you all think of Episode 1? I read some on-line reviews that were not-so-flattering (I’m looking at you, NY Times) but I liked it, especially the relationship between Kim and Jimmy.
I liked it, but was confused as to why his adversary at his old job was helping him. I know he had been doing what Chuck wanted him to do with jimmy, but I don’t recall if it bothered him or not.
