Have people finally heard back from Purchase? We did, a few days ago. So if you haven’t heard, hopefully it’s soon!

Still nothing from Purchase but I know others have heard. Sadly got a no from USC last night for their stage and screen BFA. Still being considered for the BA in theater. But we knew USC was tough.

Also still haven’t heard from Purchase (or CCM), but we’re operating on the assumption they are Nos. Regarding the pass/fail question, it is so all over the place and you should just be excited for the Yesses. You’ll make yourself crazy if you try to understand it, I’ve found. Mine passed DePaul, NYU, Syracuse, CMU, Ithaca, etc. but got a no from BU and (again assumption) Purchase and CCM, others have had the exact opposite pass/fail schools.

Thank you so much this made me feel a lot better, def keeping this in mind. UNCSA is my dream school too so to hear this makes me feel better.

Hi all– I’m so happy to have found this thread! So comforting to be among others who are going through the same experiences! I don’t know about all of you but I have so much anxiety over this!

My son has applied to BFA programs at Juilliard, NYU, Emerson, Pace, Purchase, Rutgers, and only one MT program at Wagner.

His very first audition was Juilliard and while he didn’t get a call back – it was a really great experience and it helped put him at ease - just getting through it. We knew Juilliard was a real long shot - so it was nice to get that out of the way and give him an idea of what the process is like and what he could expect going forward. I was very proud of the way he handled it.

Rutgers, Emerson, and Wagner auditions were scheduled and upcoming with no prescreens. Emerson is the only virtual audition we scheduled.

He got a callback from NYU, Pace, and Purchase after submitting the first round videotapes. NYU callback was Friday. Purchase callback is next Sunday.

I’m a nervous wreck.

After reading through all these posts I’m worried that we should have hired a coach to prepare for this process. I honestly went into this completely blind. So just curious, did all of you hire coaches? Feel like I dropped the ball here.

Thanks and good luck to all!!

We did hire a coach. Actually its an acting school in the Chicago area that has a program specifically for college auditions. They help them select audition pieces, keep us on track for deadlines, film all the prescreens for them. It was pricey but worth it because the filming part was what worried me the most. They will also have a few of the coaches at the Unifieds to help with any last minute coaching or help with walk-ins.

That seems really good to me. My daughter had similar. Failed Ithaca, CMU and RADA so far and the rest she passed or has not heard back. I would be encouraged. I agree that it’s impossible to understand why or what a school is looking for and I’m trying to have faith it will work out. She had an amazing callback af UConn yesterday. She felt they were very interested and complimentary.

I’m so sorry to hear that! Does she have other options?

This really is a grueling process. It’s not easy as a parent – and I can’t imagine what it’s like for the student. Hang in there! Everyone finds their place!

I have not yet received an email from them on callbacks at all. I know they said decisions will be sent out by the end of last week so I’m wondering if I should reach out? Are they supposed to send a callback decision even if its a decline? I had some technical issues with my transcripts so I’m not very positive but I’m wondering if I should even be getting an email in the first place haha if its a rejection since in the industry usually no news means you didn’t pass.

Mine has not received an email either, but he checked his portal and there was an admission status letter there. It was a no, but we had assumed that weeks ago. You could check there. I would hope he still gets some sort of communication from the program, though. There are people who definitely got no pass emails.

Has anyone auditioned for U Mich yet? I’m auditioning this weekend and would love to know what to expect.

I ended up reaching out haha and it was a no as well. They did send a no pass email a couple days later.

Hope you have other great options. Break a leg! Mine has still not actually gotten an email, but we’ve certainly moved on to a very full Chicago Unifieds plate.

Hey Hey!

Here’s my updates so far!

I applied to USC, CMU, Pace, Syracuse and Rutgers.

I got called back for all programs except for USC (plus Rutgers doesn’t have a prescreen).

I just had my callback interview with Syracuse yesterday and I had callbacks with CMU about two or so weeks ago, and I did one callback on the day I was originally scheduled and was emailed around 10:00PM that same night to audition again for another professor. I haven’t heard back for anything else since.

Good luck to you all!

Thank you! Hope you do as well! I’m applying from abroad so I am doing all of the auditions on zoom. So far the only callback I’ve gotten is from DePaul, but I am hopeful about those I haven’t heard from yet, and I do still have some auditions to do. Break a leg at Chicago!

I’m sorry, I did not see this when first posted. She received her callback from UMich sometime in late December, I want to say December 22nd or 23rd.
