Here to update! So far I’ve received acceptances from NYU and SCAD. NYU was ED2 which is why I got the decision early. I did not receive much aid from them, and I know ED is binding but I am not sure how I would be able to pay for it lol I thought I would get much more help, so I’m kind of bummed. Anyone know how to get rich fast?![]()
Congratulations!! So NYU is where you will go? Withdrawing all the rest? Also anyone hear anything from UMICH my dd got an email update today without a decision but we thought maybe decisions are coming.
My son applied to both BAs and BFAs - the BFAs are Boston University, Juilliard, Marymount Manhattan, Pace (2 programs), NYU, Syracuse, Ithaca, Rutgers, Penn State, Carnegie Mellon, UNCSA, Michigan, DePaul, USC, Chapman. the BAs are Northwestern, UCLA, and UCSD.
Of the BFAs he did not pass the pre-screens for USC, Michigan, and Syracuse, though I don’t know if those schools received his high school teacher recommendations, and that might be the reason he was cut. He got a call back and interview from Juilliard but did not make it to the four-day audition. He made it past all the other prescreens. Marymount Manhattan does earlier auditions than most schools, and he was accepted by them. We are still waiting to see what happens with the rest of them, but we don’t expect to hear anything until March. Good luck to all of you. The grind is real.
Exciting !!! Great to hear everyone’s acceptances as they roll in!!! Dd got into UMICH directing so far. All the rest still waiting or failed prescreens. I hear UNCSA is usually end of February.
So far, I know that people who have applied early to NYU have heard back, U-MICH was sent out Tuesday night, and CCM has slowly started to send out offers. Does anyone know of any other schools that have started sending acceptances out?
I auditioned for U-MICH and haven’t heard back yet. I don’t think they release decisions this early but I could be wrong.
That’s amazing! Please keep us updated on the rest of his results!
Amazing!! Please keep us updated
Let us know the second anyone here’s from UNCSA - it’s usually this week. Crossing all the fingers
Yes!!! Please let us know the moment anyone hears from UNCSA. Crossing all of the fingers and toes. I hope my daughter is accepted. It’s been rough and there have been some acceptances and a waitlist but OMG!!! We really would like to see an acceptance to UNCSA!!! And yes it was this week last year that decisions came through!!
You can let NYU know that you will not be able to attend even though you were accepted ED2 due to financial reasons. That is the only way to get out of the ED1 or ED2 contracts. If you are going to pass up their acceptance you’d want to do that soon otherwise you are required to pull all of your other applications for consideration because of the binding nature of the ED2 contract with NYU that you signed.
Love that for your daughter! Where has she been accepted and waitlisted?!
There is no ED police. They won’t arrest you if you don’t show up in September. However, if you are accepted ED, you can lose out on other applications (universities know that ED exist, and know that each other exist, and know how to find each other). My understanding is that other than illness or death, there is one other valid reason to back out of a ED agreement: That is if you cannot afford to attend. It sounds like this might apply to you.
Do not start any bachelor’s degree program, or any other degree program, unless you have a realistic way to pay all the way up to graduation. For a bachelor’s degree, this usually means four years of attendance.
If you cannot afford it, then you need to let them know ASAP. One the one hand there might (or might not) be some chance of a better financial award. Probably more importantly, this will allow your other applications to still be valid. If you cannot afford it, then you should most likely call them ASAP.
Did you run the NPC before applying ED2 to NYU? If so, then does the actual award that you got match what the NPC said?
This is the worst stage, I think. At least during all of the application/prescreen/audition madness, we were busy. My kid is much cooler about it than I am. He has a few early acceptances, but we know the last 8 or so will be mid-March at the earliest.
The waiting is so hard and takes up all kinds of mental energy. My daughter, meanwhile, is living her best life; I am the one who is nervous, lol. She too has early acceptances, and we are grateful for those, but we are still waiting for ten schools. I’m kind of missing the craziness of auditions and unifieds. This waiting is the worst.
My dd has acceptances from UCONN BFA acting and UMICH BFA directing. Waiting on 10 schools after callbacks or auditions. Thinking some will be this week and many others mid March. She applied for both acting and directing programs.
We just heard from UNCSA so it seems they r releasing decisions now
Dd heard back no :(((
Same here. DD heard no too a short while ago. Also, a friend’s student also got a no a short while ago too. Both very talented young people and have acceptances at other programs but just not this one. Onward and upwards…..I trust they will all find their way……
My kid was also declined at UNCSA.
