Big Snowstorm Headed for Northeast

It’s going to be sunny and in the mid-40’s this weekend, and in the 50’s on Monday. Why bother raking at all, it will all melt in the next day or two.

The snowblower had to work pretty hard. It was really heavy and wet.

The roads on the ride home tonight were in great shape.

Hopefully this is the last gasp of winter.

as far south and east as you can get in RI.

It looks like it is under 4 inches. What I worry about is a freeze at night and then the melt + backup in the morning.

We’re not really going into the deep freeze so it’s not a problem.

BTW, breezed into Boston (under 50 minutes) and back. No traffic! You’d hardly know that it snowed looking at how little snow there was on the highways.

I’m in MA (south shore) and the roads were messy this morning. It usually takes me 40 minutes to get work and it took me an hour and a half today (leaving late, office had a late opening because we lost power early in the morning). Everyone was crawling and I passed multiple spin outs.

Everything was totally fine going back tonight, highways were clear. Made it home in 45 minutes easily. We probably got about 16-18 inches where I live.

The worst was how wet and heavy the snow was…I’m definitely going to be sore from shoveling, and our driveway got plowed a couple of times so I really didn’t do too much beyond digging my car out and clearing off 2-3 inches that fell after we got plowed and before I left for work.

One more time (hopefully)!

10-14 inches expected in my area.

I’m ready for spring:

DS just headed to NY. Hope he doesn’t encounter problems.

DH said something about this. Gotta check the report, though it didn’t say much about the last bout we had when I checked. Hopefully not a big one.

Snow to “graze” our area. Rain to win out and doesn’t look too bad for here. Boston and upwards is a whole other story.

Icy morning here in Northern Ohio. Sleet ice accumulations this morning, now coming down as rain, but hitting the ground as slippery ice. Lovely. Temp should increase by the drive home.

Freezing rain, sleet, some snow here.

Ew.

Lovely, I’m right on the 2-4/4-8" border.

Please, please send us a little more LAMB and tone it way down on the LION ! It’s the second half of March after all!

I am so sick of this. Sigh. DH is on high alert again. Having grown up in the snow belt he gets very aggravated that the state has started freaking out about every snow storm like the end of the world is upon us.

We’re at our place in Hilton Head and are so happy to be missing the last blasts of winter. Hoping that by the time we get back to Toronto in April that spring will have arrived for good!

Snow started. Huge snowflakes, heavy snow, low visibility. Doesn’t really seem to be sticking yet.

Snow in Minnesota had finally stopped - best guess is 4-5 inches. I am darned tired of this white stuff. And for goodness sakes, yesterday we woke up to only 4 degrees. Hello…I need to talk to that groundhog. How can I possibly wear all my new fun colored pants when there is still snow on the ground!

We’re expecting 3-6" of snow, followed by sleet and freezing rain, before it all turns to rain tomorrow afternoon in central CT. Last time they said we were getting 3-6" of snow, we actually got over a foot. I hope they’re right this time.

We are in the 5-8 inch forecast, but at least this time no one is flying anywhere. Whew! The good news about snow at this time of the year is that it melts quickly.

Last time I looked we were in the 2-4 inch range. Clearly something shifted!

Having said that…I am so ready for spring!

The snow plow just went down our street. That is NOT a good sign. We live on a dead end road that doesn’t usually get plowed until the end of most snowfalls.

Boston just cancelled school for tomorrow. I’m guessing it has more to do with Mayor Menino saving face after the last storm. He failed to cancel school on the worst day of the last storm and busses were out in blizzard conditions. Now he’s canceling for tomorrow because of 5 inches of snow.

We’re expecting 10-14" except in the mountains where it will be more. I’m not leaving the house.
