Big Snowstorm Headed for Northeast

I plan to stay home except for a short trip to the Y for a workout. The timing of the storm is bad to go into the office and I’m only working partial days this week anyways. We’re also in the 10-14 camp.

My area is supposed to get 3-7 inches of snow (National Weather Service). I’m soooo ready for Spring; hope this is the last storm of the season.

Snowing here on the South Shore of MA.

Well…who knows what will really happen. Earlier the NWS had heavy snow here 100% chance most of the night. Now it’s 55-80% and just snow, not heavy snow. Maybe that means our snow total will be lower (one would think).

If they cancel school here, it won’t be until the morning.

Hail is pinging off my window here in NJ.

so done with winter. Can’t believe I haven’t seen a daffodil yet this year. Usually a few south-facing along walls bloom in early March.

A few inches (maybe 3,) roads are perfectly clear. Supposed to get some freezing drizzle or a bit more snow later.

I’m usually in Florida in March and at least a few times it snows up here when I’m there.

I’m thinking this year is going to be one of those go directly to summer from winter years.

Forecast for 3-6" of snow was accurate, but we’re still getting sleet, drizzle, etc. It’s barely above freezing.

I’m ready for spring weather.

6-7 inches so far. The highway was in excellent shape - wet pavement though there was a little ice on some of the off-ramps. I saw two spinouts, one was a Mustang and the other an SUV, probably RWD and both probably driving too fast for conditions. A lot of people driving like it was a sunny day.

I’m in the office - was originally going to work from home but got emails from others that the roads weren’t bad. I am going to work on the roof this afternoon as the snow has a high water content - it’s heavy and wet. Temps above freezing help.

This snow storm somehow rubbed me the wrong way. Missed my all time favorite gym class this morning because of it and our snow blower has also broken down. That darn thing is only 2 years old. So hubby borrowed our neighbor’s to clean up our drive way and the side walk. From the looks of it we got about 12-14 inches here in MA on the border of NH.

That’s a pretty big variation - we’re on the border too and we got about half that so far. It’s just stopped snowing - not sure if it’s going to start up and give us more or if that’s it. It looks like snow amounts are highly variable.

Me CT reporting in with about 3-4 inches of snow. And this town and the neighboring ones canceled school.

Minus 10 wind chill today here (upper midwest); baseball opening day April 1 - outdoor stadium with no roof! :0

BCEagle, I am a bit off earlier but the ruler, I take is more accurate than my eye balls  . It’s about 9 inches of snow. Still snowing here though but very lightly.

It is still snowing here in Maine, and expected to continue through tomorrow. The latest news is that those away from the coast might get 1-2 feet of snow. So much for an early spring.

I just finished shoveling nearly a foot of snow off the deck. Wow, this is hard to take the day before spring. On the plus side, I guess I’ll be able to go snow shoeing on the first day of spring.

Once upon a time we believed that eventually we would return to our (far northern western great lakes) state to live. Afer years of living in lovely, warm, coastal areas we did just that. The second year “back home” we had one of those winters that were terrific fun as kids, but as adults it forced us into a moment of clarity about the rest of our lives.

It snowed before Thanksgiving and kept on snowing, with bitterly cold temperatures. We did not see bare ground again until mid April. Ugh!

The next year we moved to a mid Atlantic state. Still some winter, but tolerable.

I’m feeling for all of you. This has been a long, long winter in the northeast and midwest.

I think that the winter two years ago was worse than this one.

I’ve actually felt pretty comfortable this winter and I was thinking of starting a thread on how to make winter more comfortable and manageable.

All this hiking activewear stuff is making winter more comfortable. For shoveling now, I just wear fleece pants and top, then throw on a hoody rain shell and pants when I go out to shovel. Come inside, take off the rain stuff. Lounge around in fleece. No more wet jeans or sweatshirts.

Even so, I’m sick of shovelling… The amount of snow this morning was real shock.

Two years ago we had 4 major storms within about a two-week span. I had to hire front end loaders and dump trucks to remove snow from my properties because there was no space for the plows to move it.

We didn’t really have any built-up accumulation this year. And before the blizzard we hardly had any snow at all, and there has been a lot of melt in-between storms.

So it doesn’t seem as bad to me either.
