If you ask me, honestly, my former lacking performance was due to anxiety. Did close to no prep over summer if you count ’ 4-5 math sections’ prep at all. Oh and my test center the second time was my own high school and that might have helped as well.

PSAT scores

Freshman: 169
Soph: 206

Method: Self study Collegeboard SAT Prep blue book and Sparknotes’ 1000 vocab (only got through 500). I didn’t know what to do during Fr year, wasted time reading instructions and second-doubting myself. Soph, after reading the book and doing a few practice tests, I was a lot more prepared =]

Freshman year PSAT: in the 1700s
Senior year SAT: 2360

A nice improvement :)

I know a person in my who scored 17 something on PSAT Junior year and then 2330 senior yr.

Freshman PSAT:145
Sophomore PSAT:188
Junior PSAT: 224

At end of eighth grade, I started taking SAT classes; first mock test indicated 1720
Beginning of ninth grade, took my first PSAT (207)
My tenth grade PSAT was 219

hoping to end SAT in junior year somewhere in high 2300s O_O I’m gonna push myself like crazy this summer and winter

I think the classes only help with motivation. In the beginning, it was basically self-study. But without the prep classes I wouldn’t have done it so it did help a lot. SATs are just… really practice, and a bit of brains too I guess. But mostly practice really…?

Soph PSAT (No Prep): 170
Jr PSAT (No Prep): 179
Practice Tests I’ve Taken (Lots of self-prep): ~202

Still more work to be done, but I’m happy with what I’ve achieved thus far.

PSAT
Soph: 182
Jun: 212

SAT: We’ll see very soon.

I didn’t do any preparation, really. Got through maybe 30 pages of the Princeton Review SAT Guide over the summer, and promptly forgot anything I “learned” from it. Only useful tip was bubbling in all the answers at the end - I’m sure that helped me with time.

Freshman: 1980 (first ever SAT practice test, with Kaplan)
Sophomore: 220 (PSAT)
Junior: 240 (PSAT, I studied for it)

SAT: We shall see in ~6 hours!!! :)

Sophomore PSAT: 179 (Similar to a 1790 SAT).
Senior SAT: 2300

Improvement: Approximately 510 points.

10th grade: 177
11th grade: 196, 2130
12th grade: 2250 (2270 superscored), 2330

560 point improvement from first PSAT to last SAT
200 point improvement from first SAT to last SAT.

^what made the difference for everyone with the big jumps? I mean, its almost like you had 2 big jumps. Was it a prep class? Was it more practice? What just ‘clicked’ for you guys?

I went from 183 PSAT (junior year, which im in right now) to ~2100 practice BB tests. I want to hit another jump and go to ~2300

^^agreed with ViggyRam, how did you guys jump so much?

Between my 177 and my 2130 there was nothing but aging. Between the 2130 and the 2250 there were about 10 practice tests. Between the 2250 and the 2330 there was just less anxiety and a bit of luck.

^That’s a nice way to put it

154 Jr. PSAT –> 2220 BB Test
