Ted lasso, or The other two.
Deadloch, Young Sheldon, Derry Girls
Northern Exposure on Prime
If you donāt mind old 90s comedies (but IMHO they were the best comedy writers), Coach is streaming for free on Roku and Frasier on Amazon Prime.
Donāt forget to check out Poker Face on Peacock. It is a modern Columbo-like crime drama.
Enjoying Griselda. I tried to watch Snowfall but found Griselda easier to watch. I believe Snowfall would develop quite well over time but the initial episode was a lot.
Iām about to start Fargo and am picking up the last season of Blacklist.
If you like mysteries/detective series, take a look at the eight Harlan Coben series on Netflix, which are loosely based on his books. Some of these series are better than others, and most take place in European cities. Coben tells a good story and while I prefer his books, the Netflix series is decent. Coben was involved in the production.
Just finished Trying and currently watching the new/last season of Curb your Enthusiasm.
Seinfeld, Cheers, Frazier, Big Bang Theory
@LeastComplicated , how in the world could I forget āDoc Martinā; not a drama, not a mystery, just a comfortable visit episode after episode. Great characters.
We really liked One Day!
I saw the main actor on Jimmy Kimmel. He seems a lot younger in real life! Sweet kid. Jimmy asked him what he did to look older, and he said he tried a special kind of walk. The director said, āYouāre supposed to be 40, not 80!ā Jimmy laughed and said, ā40 probably seems the same as 80 to you!ā
Anyone watch/watching True Detective Night Country? It finished up last night. I thought it was excellent, with superb acting. It was very melancholy and at points I was like āgeez this is making me sadā but I really enjoyed it.
We havenāt finished it yet, but I now know I never want to go to northern Alaska. Juneau, Haines and Skagway were beautiful when I was there though.
I would recommend Young Sheldon and Modern Family.
My sonās favorite is How I Met Your Mother. He has watched the whole series through multiple times. Not my favorite, but everyone likes different thingsā¦
For comedies we loved Kimās Convenience, Derry Girls, and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. They got us through stay at home time of COVID.
Watching Bomb Girls now - not very deep or historical as I thought it might be but decent story line that hasnāt bored me yet.
Another show to add to the police drama recommendations is Blue Lights on BritBox. Itās set in Northern Ireland, good story so far (up to episode 5/6), lots of background āplotsā and Iām sad thereās only one season so far!
In case it hasnāt been mentioned, we started a trial subscription to Apple TV+ in order to watch Masters of the Air. Itās a nine episode program about the 100th bomb group, 8th Air Force, in WW II. Episode 5 dropped last Friday.
Some scenes in Masters of the Air are hard to watch, particularly when they depict events that I know my dad (a B17 pilot in the 95th BG) and his crew endured. Iām curious to see what, if anything, is shown about POW life and how the depiction compares to his, and other survivorsā, stories.
My husband had a hard time watching āThe Pacificā for the same reason - his dad was with MacArthur when he returned to Leyte, and he also fought on Okinawa. He got quite a few medals. He was either on the same ridge as depicted in āHacksaw Ridge,ā or the one right next to it. So hard to imagine.
Iām glad you reminded me about Masters of the Air. I started watching it but forgot to continue! I donāt look at Apple TV+ very often.
