Binge watched tv shows (Part 1)

Really liked Season 3 of the Outlaws, even with only 5 minutes of Christopher Walken. Don’t like Season 4 of Trying as much as previous seasons but it’s still better than most other shows. Funny how there’s almost a crossover between the two with John/Scott.

On the flip side, I’m enjoying season 4. I’ll admit to not being a fan of the time jump, but then I rarely am.

Thank you for reminding me of The Outlaws. Somehow I never watched Season Three so this will be my binge for the next bit.

We enjoyed the 2 seasons of We are Lady Parts (which is the name of their punk band) on Peacock. Highly recommend for the writing and music.

This is old but I just had a 2 month trial of Acorn and I binge watched all 10 seasons (18 years worth) of Doc Martin. I loved it and am sad to see it end.

There is also a special called Farewell Doc Martin that popped up late night on our local PBS that you might look for if you haven’t seen it. A look back at the series with cast interviews, etc.

Have you watched the movies that launched the series? We haven’t yet but intend to. The first is called Saving Grace, starring Brenda Blethyn (Vera). The other two are Doc Martin, and Doc Martin and the Legend of Cloutie. I have read that the Doc Martin character in the movies is quite different from the final product.

The three movies can be found on youtube, I believe. Do not know if any of them are any good, but will find out. We are presently on Season 8.

Thank you for those titles, I didn’t know any of those existed.

From what I have read, the original Doctor is very different than what we are used to. Once we finish the series we will check out the movies. I believe all 3 were filmed in Port Isaac (aka Portwenn)

As an aside, I just saw a charming film titled Fisherman’s friends, a true story about fishermen from Port Isaac who sing for common fellowship on their boats and occasionally on shore. (That’s well before the sea shanty craze).

We just finished Eric (6 episodes) on Netflix. Benedict Cumberbatch plays a genius alcoholic puppeteer on a Muppets-like tv show. His son disappears on his way to school and the series plays out from there. It takes place in the 80s and has a number of subplots that don’t really get resolved by the end—but I would recommend it. It’s a good psychological thriller.

Regarding the new Presumed Innocent series, if you know how it ends going in (i.e., if you have read the book or seen the film), it seems to me that it would take a lot of the fun out of watching this new series. Or maybe I’m missing something?

I remember the Harrison Ford movie, but didn’t realize this was the same plot until I looked it up. Maybe they’ll change the ending? :woman_shrugging:

Fortunately I read the book so long ago I didn’t remember.
I do admit I “cheated” and looked it up, but I really couldn’t remember. I don’t know if the series will stay true to the book. I can’t remember many other details either, so it all feels new to me.

I heard the series ending is a surprise but since the film and the book were somewhat different apparently not sure what it’ll be - reviewers were not sent the final episode so no one knows. :slightly_smiling_face:
