Agree to disagree on this one. I’m not the only one disappointed with the show.
Same.
We are watching The Lincoln Lawyer. I haven’t read the books but the show is pretty mid in a brain candy sort of way. It’s so predictable we often say the next lines to each other before the character does. I think the first two seasons of Bosch were better but this is better than the last season of Bosch during the pandemic and way better than Bosch legacy.
Nowhere near as good as Slow Horses which is one of my faves.
We watched After The Flood on Brit Box. It was pretty good (not as good as Happy Vally) and are currently watching The Curse about a 80s gold and cash robbery in England. It’s pretty good and funny so far. Great clothes and sets.
It is, but tbh, all these Connelly/ Kellerman / Baldacci books are pretty formulaic at this point. But I still look forward to each new release.
We started it, but only watched a couple of the episodes. Agree with the “just doesn’t seem believable” comment.
After the flood is good quality&timely - I loved the setting and looked into the way they created the flood : not CGI, it’s real - but Happy Valley just is in a class of its own. Some After the flood characters are too formulaic but the flood, its causes and its aftermath are great.
Lincoln Lawyer is perfect summer fare. Good acting, lovely cityscapes, story you can follow while doing sth else.
Started The girls on the bus. Liked the 1st episode, unsure about the 2nd but since episode 3 really liking the journalists’ profiles&lives, similarities and differences with this year, etc. The trailer is chaotic and noisy but the show isn’t.
Also started Land of women. Comedy-drama, 3 generations of women (all with potential rom com storyline). Wealthy wine specialist lady (Eva Longoria) flees to Catalunya with mother and daughter after her husband seemingly misinvested 15 millions for the wrong person. Adventures ensue.Liking it a lot as light summer fare. (Not realistic&gritty in any way).
Watching and enjoying Queenie (Hulu).
‘Queenie’ Is a Fun Coming-of-Age Show
This smart and poppy British series melds the good parts of the semi-autobiographical sadcom with more predictable rom-com traditions.

(Queenie is British with family from Jamaica and it takes place in London.)
Same here.
Intriguing.
What does “sadcom” mean though?
I guess a romantic comedy that has sad moments.
Portmanteau of sad comedy. Because the English language is just clamouring for more portmanteaus.
I totally agree about The Bear. I was thinking they must have different writers. DH was tired of Carmy’s close ups pondering shots. The only one I really enjoyed was the back story of the middle aged lady chef. I can’t remember her name. Good to know it was a filler season, it sure seemed like it.
That’s how we felt about The Lawyer, too. But we finished it and enjoyed it.
Different strokes for different folks, I like it. I work with a lot of individuals on the spectrum. Attorney Woo is only one aspect of it.
Sometimes, is a bit difficult for me to follow with the subtitle when characters, esp. Attorney Woo speak very fast.
We binged Season 1 of Unstable (Netflix) this weekend starring Rob Lowe.
It’s a comedy-drama-ish about an eccentric/crazy biotech billionaire, his son and his biotech company and its employees.
We really enjoyed it. LOL funny in parts. The episodes are about 30 minutes long and there are 8 episodes in Season 1.
Season 2 premieres on 8/1.
I’ve been working my way through Season 1 (of 5!) of Insecure. The main character and her friends are mostly almost-30 Black professionals living in Los Angeles and often the only (or almost) Black employee in their workplace.
Half-hour episodes, on MAX.
Is it more like a workplace comedy or a family drama?
Mostly comedy, both at workplace and home. But mostly workplace. The 1st episode is like 27 mins and then we got hooked.
We liked it too.
The son on the show is Rob Lowe’s real life son.
