Binge watched tv shows (Part 1)

Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen on NetFlix. 8 episodes. Really enjoyed the first 4 or 5 episodes, but was disappointed with the remaining few episodes.

That show went off a cliff for me. Felt like a writer or writers who were too self indulgent.

The movie was more enjoyable but we made it through the tv series because my kid is a fan of Theo James (despite her disdain of the Divergent movie series… loved the books… she didn’t hold that against him.)

Has anyone watched Time Bandits?

No, but I wonder if it’s based on the movie by the same name. I loved that movie as a kid!

Does the Olympics count as binge watching a TV show?

I don’t know if this belongs here or in the Politics forum.

50th season! I remember the 1st (I was 12). Probably why I haven’t watched more than maybe 20 full episodes since the 1970s.

If anyone hasn’t seen Ryan Goslings SNL sketch called The Engagement, let me just say that I’ve rewatched it multiple times and it makes me laugh when I’m feeling stressed. YMMV

I do watch various sketches on YouTube if I hear good, or really bad, things about them. I have saved the 2014 sketch St. Joseph’s Christmas Mass and make my family (we’re Catholic) watch it every Christmas. And I laugh every time.

Enjoying The Change on Britbox. We’ve only watched 4 episodes but there’ve been some laugh out loud moments and I’m enjoying its quirkiness.

The first five episodes of Emily in Paris Season 4 dropped on Netflix today. Part 2 will follow on September 12.

Fun review of the new season - there are spoilers. I haven’t watched yet, but this sums up many of my feelings - and explains why I will watch.

Boston Globe on Monday had a ‘what to watch this week’ column and mentioned the new season of Emily in Paris, accompanied by a photo that completely cracked me up—I swear she is dressed as The Hamburgler, mask and all!!! Is this intentional, or a parody of Paris high fashion.

Looked completely ridiculous.

Just finished binging the first half of the new Emily season and completely understand the review I posted. Two thoughts: (1) Emily would have been much better off if she’d been dressed by the producers of the Olympic Opening Ceremonies and (2) many scenes would have been greatly enhanced by a silver knight on a white steed. Preferably riding on the Seine.

I can only hope Emily’s outfits were tongue in chic. And that is not supposed to be a reference to Gregory’s fashion show.
