I haven’t finished the first half season yet, but that outfit was worn to a masquerade ball. AND someone else was wearing the exact same thing!!! (necessary for a plot point).
I’ll read the review after I finish the set, but for me the appeal of the show is how campy it is. I hope it’s intentionally bringing the viewers into the fun, not made thinking it’s serious television.
I’m watching the last season of the amazing show, Reservation Dogs. I just watched the episode about Indian boarding schools. There’s a scene at the end where they show a grave stone with the inscription “Murdered by Human Wolves”. There was an actual gravestone with that inscription (stolen in 2016) about 10 miles from my hometown in OK. All the area teenagers knew about it and we’d go in groups to see it at night to scare each other. The rumor was that the inscription meant that the young lady was killed by werewolves.
I googled it after seeing the episode to see if they based the scene on that particular gravestone and they did. However, the young lady apparently died from a botched abortion. The wiki article didn’t say whether she was Native American or not.
I just thought it was interesting that the show writers knew about it. The filming locations in OK aren’t near my hometown. *Ok, just looked up Sterlin Harjo and he grew up about 45 miles away.
l started back watching Emily in Paris. Aside: my DIL with whom we went to Paris with her and son and granddaughter is a real style and fashionista and LOVES Paris (they are going again next week) but she didn’t watch Emily!! I like gaped at her. Truly. I mean, it’s HER. Anyway, after our trip I came to find out that the location for Emily’s apartment was literally the next block over from where we stayed which was right across from the Pantheon. If only I had known as I had seen a couple of seasons at that time. I am seriously going to encourage DIL to try again. It’s just eye candy.
That’s too bad! When we went in September, we went to her apartment building and Gabrielle’s restaurant. It was so fun! The restaurant was closed, but we had some wine sitting in that area. We saw an Emily in Paris tour group. It’s much smaller than it appears on screen.
Started a 2000-2005 British series, Monarch of the Glen. A London restauranteur inherits his family’s castle and estate in Scotland, he has to relocate and deal with saving it. Has that fish-out-of-water vibe like Northern Exposure.
We’ve been to Scotland twice, and I could listen to someone read the phone book if they have a Scottish accent! The scenery is drop-dead gorgeous, quirky characters.
It’s streaming for free on Pluto—haven’t found it anywhere else. Will check if our library system has the DVD sets.
We loved Dexter! (We might have gone to visit his apartment last summer in Miami…) Like many series, it peaks after a few seasons, and then declines some. It does have the worst season finale ever (in our opinions). We maintain that’s why they came out with the sequel. The sequel was very good, but not amazing. It was nice to see all of the characters again. Trying not to give out any spoilers…
I’ve actually put off watching Dexter because I hate to invest so much and then be disappointed by the finale, which is considered terrible in most circles.
We are in the process of watching The Old Man on Prime, and it is enthralling. Bridges and Lithgow are both great (to be expected), as are the actors who play their younger selves.
