And the actor who plays Mosley was on Ridley (also on PBS)!
The season finale of Slow Horses dropped last night. I thought I had the plot resolution figured out in advance. Nope.
But we did get a sneak peek at season 5
I have no idea wrt to the ending, although I suspect Claude of something (tangential not core) and worry for Giti. Will watch tonight.
Sometimes I feel that if anyone should leave Slough House it should be River and then Iām proven wrong so weāll see if that happens today again.
We were in Rome this past weekend and we did sit and take pictures on the spanish steps. Told my H that it was not allowed, but he really wanted to. No one was fined! Lots of folks were doing the same. We did see the cops around and they definitely talked to/warned folks that were eating while sitting on the steps.
I thought it was over quickly, but Iād forgotten about the envelopes. I loved how Moira got her job back. Hopefully sheāll still visit Slough House.
I was on the edge of my seat. Fabulous season.
Weāre starting Nobody Wants This tonight. Iām looking forward to it as part of a culturally blended family (religion, nationality)⦠although our Jewish family members are not overly observant so I expect weāll learn a lot. And based on posts here, enjoy the rom-com too.
We are watching too. Some parts remind me of the funny 2000 movie, āKeeping the Faithā.
I finished season 2 today. Overall I enjoyed season 2 to a similar degree as season 1. I am not alone in this opinion, as season 2 had a higher average IMDB rating than season 1. The winning formula of a real life Squid Game series of physical challenges, with elite athletes in a variety of sports, still works.
There were some characters with interesting personalities in season 2, although not quite to the degree of season 1. This may relate to being victim of their success. Following the success of season 1, the producers had more opportunities to choose competitors with Olympic/national/international level sport backgrounds and more opportunity to choose competitors with large YouTube / social media followings, so lesser known persons with especially interesting personalities or backgrounds, but a lacking resume, are less likely to get in. Or it may more relate to editing choices of what interpersonal discussion/comments to include in the show.
I thought some of the challenges were better than season 1 counterpart and some were worse. I particularly liked watching the mine transport challenges and the final challenges. I also liked how there were more challenges I could better associate with and get a sense of how I might stack up, such as chin-up challenge, treadmill challenge, and infinite squat challenge (with weights listed). I preferred the revival matches and related twists (āAvengersā team) as well.
Comparing season 1 and season 2, the one and only challenge that I thought was far inferior with season 2 was the group of 20 challenge. Season 1 group of 20 had a variety of different and interesting challenges to choose from that emphasized different aspects of physical fitness. Teams could strategically choose which members to participate in which challenges, and there were some interesting decisions, such as
contestants knowingly choosing an event where heād/sheād lose, so teammate had better shot of advancing. As I mentioned in my earlier post, I believe it was possible for a natural woman to advance in this stage. It was also possible for competitors with a variety of different body types and specialties to advance such as a Worldās Strongest Man type (Punishment of Atlas) or lean moderate distance runner (The Tail of Ouroboros).
Season 2 replaced these 4 unique and interesting challenges with a single pulling challenge. It was interesting the first few times I saw it. The problem is only 1 person was eliminated each time, so they needed to have 15 different races to drop from 19 to 4, and they filmed each and every race in sequence without skipping. After seeing it 15 times in a row, it became far less interesting. From a physical fitness standpoint it was a good challenge emphasizing strength, speed, and endurance. However, given that every athlete had to pass through this single challenge to advance, all advancing athletes had a similar body type. Unlike season 1, women, strongmen, and lean runners all had essentially no chance of getting past top 20. The mine transport challenge had a similar type of limitation. It was structured as a series of 1 or 2 person team challenges that all required notable strength, which made having natural women on a team dramatically increase chance of the team losing, more so than occurred with any of the team challenges in season 1. I wouldnāt be surprised if itās common for season 3 team leaders to not choose any women on their team unless there are no other options.
I completely agree with this rating. Episode 4 contained a scene that the viewer could almost feel, rather than just witness. The way they filmed it was jarring.
We are suckers for good British shows and we have watched āMonarch of the Glenā from the early 2000ās for several weeks. 7 seasons. Set in Scotland. Great characters. Just loved it. I am sorry itās over for us.
Season 3 of The Lincoln Lawyer ( Netflix) released last night. Unlike some recent Netflix series, or season 2 of this series, the season is not split in two. All episodes have dropped.
Yay, thanks!
Oh thanks! I hadnāt seen that. I hope itās a good season⦠season 3 is sometimes a challenge for limited streaming productions. (I HAVE NOT WATCHED NOR READ REVIEWS SO THIS IS MY MUSING ONLY. DONāT READ ANYTHING INTO IT. )
Have you checked out Hamish MacBeth? Robert Carlyle (from COBRA, if you watch that on PBS) plays the local cop in a small highland town. Similar vibe as Monarch. From the 90s I believe, so Carlyle is pretty young.
Itās available free on Freevee which is the free part of Amazon Prime Video. Like Monarch, captions make it easier.
H and I are watching āElementaryā on Prime- late to the show as it is around 12 years old but really enjoying it.
I loved that show back in the day
Finished Nobody Wants This on Netflix last night (2 episodes a night for the past 5 nights). Cute rom com with a good cast.
We are enjoying it too. (Taking a break though since my husband is away. Heck, Iām taking a break entirely from TV and streaming⦠not a fan of dealing with the three remotes. I used to only know how to turn things off, but now things go into sleep mode automagically).
just finished this series based on the ya novels by holly smale. innocent escapism
