I love it and yes, I do think it’s more medical drama over soap opera
Thanks for sharing, I’m gonna check this out! My kid loves medical shows. He started with New Amsterdam when he was hospitalized several years ago, then I suggested House, which I’ve not really watched but figured he’d like.
After he’d binged all of House and his friends made fun of him, he coaxed them into watching it too. They quickly started doing “House O’Clock” (7 PM) several times per week, where they watch together. They’ve maintained it virtually in college and we host many in-person viewings at our house while they’re home for breaks. He put a House poster on his dorm room ceiling haha.
Just sent him info about The Pitt. I think I’ll even start watching this one!
Thank you (and to the others who commented). I’ve been meaning to give this show a try. Also a Noah Wylie fan.
My 22 year old daughter started watching greys anatomy a few years ago, she was amazed to learn that I’ve been watching since the beginning 18 years ago.
I love medical dramas, too. I remember my first episodes of ER and Greys.
Another thumbs up for The Pitt. But oh my, Noah Wyle’s aged up.
But pointing out that new episodes are released weekly and we’re only on week 3 (or hour 3, which is the differentiator of the show).
I just watched episode 3 of the Pitt, one thing that stands out is that the ED looks like an ED. I’ve been in my share, and I can’t imagine folks who’ve watched shows like Greys or Chicago Med going to their local ED and expecting those conditions. I used to like Code Black for its regular looking hospital.
Is “aged up” a positive or negative?
I know the term “glowed up”…
I know “aged up” in the context of aging an actor for a character…
But does “aged up” have a slang meaning you youngsters use?
I read it as he’s “grown up” but for someone who was already an adult.
I couldn’t think of a euphemistic way to say what I really thought. The posters have been up for a few weeks, and the first time I saw, I thought, “Holy crap. That’s Noah Wyle?!?!” I know it’s been almost 20 years since he left ER (not counting guest appearances), but he looks much older than 53.
Rogue Heroes season 2 has started. It tells the story of the beginnings of the SAS. It seems to stick close to the book it is based on.
Daughter signed us up for a free four month trial of Max. So far I’ve watched:
Chernobyl- very good
True Detective, Night Country - slow and weird and could have done without JF’s sex scene
Mare of Eastown - very good
Now starting season two of The Wire. Enjoying it a lot, but one incident in season one was traumatic.
Let me know if you have any recommendations on Max!
I have a year of free Max (thank you Verizon), so I’m bingeing all I can. I highly recommend Hacks and Somebody Somewhere. Both excellent shows. We are also working our way through a rewatch of West Wing.
We also just got Max. We’ve started Hacks and are really enjoying it!
I previously had Max as part of a bundle but after a recent move that wasn’t an option so I did not add it back. Then kiddo came home for the holidays and wanted to watch something on Max and I discovered she had it through her school. So she added it here and now I have Max though her graduation in May.
Channel 4’s Get Millie Black landed on Max, great, dark British drama that takes place in the Caribbean.
The Sympathizer, 70s-80s communist Vietnam spy drama with humor.
Starstruck, a romcom that’s like a reverse Notting Hill, where a drunk and lonely “normal” young Australian in London (Rose Matafeo, terrific) falls into bed with a guy who turns out to be a famous actor. Shenanigans and life questions ensue.
Gentleman Jack, historical drama with a twist: 1830s traveller/polymath has to return home to the sticks so decides to dig a coal pit despite this not being a women’s venture and woo local wealthy neighbor (who’s had a crush on her since 1820 - we know this because it’s a true story recorded in unesco-preserved diaries.)
Perry Mason, another impeccable-historicity historical drama, taking place in 1932-33 LA, well before Perry became a big famous attorney. Matthew Rhys is fantastic as the tormented detective guiding us through Depression-era glitz, faith revivals, and Hooverville tent villages.
Seconding Somebody Somewhere, The Pitt, and Hacks!
Starting Monday, Comcast customers have Acorn free for a week.
cliffhanger to end s2 but rest assured not cancelled
Ok is no one watching squid games?! I ended up watching season one twice because the first time I watched it dubbed and then read it did not translate well, so watched it again with subtitles and it was better.
The White Lotus. Hacks. Somebody, Somewhere. The Gilded Age. The Undoing.
