We watched it. I had to read a synopsis of season 1 because I forgot a lot. In general, I really liked it, except the ending makes you go what? But I read a season 3 is coming sooner vs later, so that helps. And I guessed a couple of the twists in the end too.
Have you finished? Didn’t want to give any spoilers.
I finally got around to watching Killing Eve on Netflix. Just finished season 4 - I couldn’t wait for it to be over. There was nothing “fun” about it - no witty dialogue, no great clothing, too many new characters and storylines introduced that served no purpose. Boring season.
I was wondering how there was going to be a season 2, but they pulled it off. They should have made season 3 the last one.
Overall, loved Sandra Oh (Eve), Jodie Comer (Villanelle), and Fiona Shaw (Carolyn). And the Kenny character!
I did a search in this thread and didn’t see any mention of this show but tonight I started watching No Good Deed on Netflix - sort of a dark comedy like Dead To Me (which I never finished cause I heard what the ending would be). It’s good so far! Ray Romano, Lisa Kudrow, and the one lady from Dead To Me among others
Worth checking out for something not too intense but not too corny. So far anyway!
Spouse and I love British police procedurals! One that I haven’t seen mentioned yet, and enjoyed) is Suspects (on Prime) that ran for 5 series (seasons) from 2014-2016.
I like your taste in shows and will have to check out “No Good Deed”.
I’m still missing “Firefly Lane”. Two long, interesting seasons. I do feel like it was good it didn’t go too long because it seems like long running season often have to add extra stuff (natural disasters, accidental killings and other far fetched stories). It had the flashback vibe of This is Us… kudos to casting directors that match of old/young actor counterparts. Lots of good music too.
I’ve gone back to “Virgin River” for exercise. I like that too, better than the detour I took for “Dead to Me” (over the top plot lines, though I liked the character evolution).
Question for the group-- Would I like “How I Met Your Mother”? Well, I know you can’t really know if I would like it, but, it feels kind of fluffy, young people-ish, lots of laugh track jokes. However, I was looking for something with lots of seasons and not too complicated for recumbent biking watching, and my S and his partner suggested this. It turns out it’s her favorite show of all time. I respect her taste, so thinking of giving it a try, but I’ve always seemed a gimmick show I wouldn’t like. First episode didn’t really change that thought, but I know it’s not enough to judge by.
So, parent cafe hivemind–what do you think–would I like it?
We enjoyed it, but eventually got tired of it. I sort of wanted to see the last season, just to see how it turned out, but heard it wasn’t great so I never did. I think we saw 7 of the 9 seasons.
HIMYM has one of the worst endings ever. I did enjoy watching the show when it was airing but the way they ended it ruined any affection I had for it. This is similar to how I felt about Game of Thrones. Quite a difficul accomplishment, that an ending can ruin the entire series retroactively but yep, the creators managed to do it.
Watch it as a “group of friends” show, not a show about really “how I met your mother”. Stop after season 6 or 7 - LOTS of episodes by that point so should be fit for purpose.
Thanks all! S and GF also said the ending was completely terrible. But she still loved it up until then. I like the idea of watching it as a group of friends show, not paying attention to what seems to me to be a ridiculous premise. I’ll give it a spin, as I spin
Recently I enjoyed Grace and Frankie and Inside Man (Netflix) as workout shows. Also Only Murders in the Building (Hulu). As a change of pace, I’m now watching the Great British Bake Off (Netflix).
FWIW I’m a NPH fan (seen him on and off Broadway many times) but never loved HIMYM but YMMV.
My workout routine is watching things in Spanish. I watch things designed for language learners so I don’t need to be reading subtitles. I’ve always wanted to watch a telenovela. (I’m on the unit “Discuss telenovelas” in Duolingo, which is pretty funny - you learn all the words for classic tropes, villains, revenge, identical twins, orphans etc.)
