Nope. No jokes I stopped after most of episode 1. Too dark for my mood.
āMan on the Insideā (Netflix, Ted Danson at a retirement home as a ādetectiveā) is currently the show my husband and I pick for a lighthearted end to the evening. Though there are some sad scenes too.
We are near the end of Season 3 of āKilling Eveā. It would be too gruesome for me to pick on my own, but my husband likes it. With both think Villanelleās facial expressions can be a hoot.
We had seen season one of Madame Blanc Mysteries on Ovation (on our cable system) and are using our free Acorn this week on Comcast to try to watch seasons 2-3.
Cozy mystery about an English antique dealer whose husband gets murdered in France. She moves there to try to find his killer and gets involved with the locals (seems like this French town has a lot of Brits!) and the local police in solving other crime.
Her knowledge of art and antiques often leads to cracking the case. The title is actually a joke in that her name is Jean White, but nobody calls her Madame Blanc.
We do, too. Have not seen that one so Iāll put it on the list. Thanks.
I liked it. The actors in it were so appealing to me.
but beware of wild west violence
Iām improving my Spanish (reading only hitherto) thanks to Suenos de Libertad, currently #1 in Spain.
I have mastered lo siento, te quiero, and de verdad (not common in reading
).
I just couldnāt with this. It was so dark and violent. Unrelenting
I watched American Primeval on Netflix last week. It was indeed brutal. But if one could handle watching Game of Thrones, for example, youāll be able to handle this.
I thought the female characters were excellent, as well as the acting all around. It certainly gave me a new perspective on the history in that area. And subsequently learning about the real life figures. A very interesting and well done show.
Thanks for the comparison, thatās always so helpful. I was out early for GOT, so know this show wonāt be good for me.
No, but am somewhat interested. The book was probably the best one Iāve ever read, and I am hesitating to watch the show just because of the high bar that the book sets.
From what Iāve read, itās very faithful to the book. The change actors out as people age, and the new actors donāt always look like the old ones, but it hasnāt been confusing for that reason. Itās just a very strange story! I donāt think I will ever be a big fan of magical realism.
Stick with The Wire. Tough, at times, but so, so, good.
Itās an older show, but Silicon Valley? Completely different than the shows youāve listed. Irreverent, very foul mouthed, but often hilarious. Very original. S2(CompE ) and I bonded over watching it.
Have been watching Severance. Not really my kind of thing, but it is very good
I sort of canāt wait to watch Severance but I need to rewatch the previous season first to refresh. The reviews of this season are quite good.
Maybe Iāll let my husband talk me into finishing the previous season. Pickings are getting slim for shows we both want to see.
I enjoyed it but had to pace myself because of the violence so didnt really binge it.
Now watching Godless.
Horizon looks interestingā¦anyone tried it yet? netflix
Current fluff binge is Younger.
Why did Younger pop up again on Netflix? Was it on another streaming app before?? There is no new season, right?
no idea. 7 seasons. never seen it.
Season 3 of Special Forces is on Hulu, this time set in Wales. Beautiful scenery, terrifying challenges and I find it fascinating to watch.
After bingeing Severance last year, we couldnāt wait for the new episode. We hate having to continue now on a weekly basis when we just want to speedily consume it, so good.
Weāre bingeing through The Bear now which is porn for DH as he has always wanted to be a chef. I love that kitchen chaos, too, so weāre both riveted. The interpersonal chaos is another delicious layer. Jamie Lee Curtis was a surprise.
After finishing Henry Winklerās Being Henry which culminates with what Bill Hader and Barry did for him, I had to start it. Itās not a premise that would normally attract me, but after reading how it came together, I gave it a shot. The bookās overlay is so clear. I plan to finish it. And kudos to Winkler for sharing his often painful journey as a severe dyslexic with ādifficultā parents.
