Binge watched tv shows (Part 2)

We’re enjoying Ballard also.

Great news! They haven’t even aired Season 5 yet!

Finally started binging some shows…
Started and finished these:
Shrill and Loudermilk….liked these but hated they were cancelled so they had no real ending.
The Four Seasons
The Bear
Squid Game
North of North
Running Point…just started, but really like it so far

I really enjoyed the second half of the new season of The Bear and I thought the ending was excellent

Son is recommending Andor and Letter Kenny, but not sure I’d enjoy those

Yes. Look forward to Season 5/London Rule. I think among Mick Herron books, LondonRule is the funniest.

From what I read, they combined two books (Joe Country and Slough House) into Season 6 and Season 7 will be based on Bad Actor. Wish they did one book a season. I love both the books and the show a lot.

I’m trying to watch “Ozark,” but it just seems dark and depressing to me.

I finished S4 last night too. Agree better than 3 but not as good as 1&2. Agree about the Faks. I like where they’ve gone with Richie. I still get confused about the timeline and flashbacks vs present day and how much time has passed. Some possibilities for the next season. Still so.much.yelling!

I stopped midway thru season 1 after I asked DH (who finished the show and loved it) if it was ever not dark and depressing and he said no. And it’s not that I can’t deal with dark and depressing as I love plenty of shows that meet that criteria, but with Ozark it just seemed relentless.

I watched all but the last season, there was a gap, but it was a great show.

Richie is my favorite character.

We also watched the season finale last night. I understood what they were doing, and it did bring much full circle from the start of the show. But what I enjoyed most about the show was beautiful cooking, and scenes around Chicago. I missed that in this episode.

I did not like the yelling. And I told husband if they eliminated the F word and the word “sorry,” they could have finished the episode in 10 minutes.

Richie is my favorite character, too! His character development has been great.
Do you think he’ll get together with Chef Jessica?

Oh, good. I wondered whether I was nutty for liking him so much. Of course, maybe we are both nutty.

I do think that they will get together, and the fact that they didn’t this season was my only disappointment. The growth in his character has been great and prompted lots of discussion with dh and a bff, separately, as all three of us are the ones who left home, like Carm, and what it must feel like for those who stayed close, like Ritchie and Mikey.

I loved the ending for Murderbot season 1  it was true to the novella but showed things that had only been broached briefly through recounting in the novella, making the scenes very tense, engaging, and at times horror-scary. The quick thinking of the Preservation team when faced with a completely different culture with different values was awesome.
The actress who plays Dr Mensah is excellent, especially in the non verbal acting at the end.
I want to rewatch :blush::joy:

DH and I just finished Dept Q. This was a good recommendation.

And I’ll add that we also liked the latest seasons of Hacks, The Bear, All Creatures Great and Small, and The Handmaid’s Tale.

I was about to look into who mentioned Dept.Q. here. Thanks @blueberriesforsal for your recommendation.

My husband and I enjoy this show (just finished episode 7 and 2 more to go). Love the characters, the acting and the dialog. It could rival Slow Horses. We love Scottish accent, too. Glad there will be Season 2.

I too loved Dept Q though I had to fast forward thru most of the scenes involving the crime itself. I just can’t watch scenes of people suffering ( so no Handmaids tale). I can watch shows where bad things have happened and they are trying to solve the crime but not prolonged scenes of torture/ suffering . I would read on Wikipedia what took place.

I can understand. While I am OK with crime scenes in this show, I do avoid watching more gruesome scenes in a few other shows.

That was my issue, too. They stayed just within watchability for me, but it was close. I always dreaded those parts.

The same thing happened to me with Slow Horses. I have only watched the first season, and I struggled with the scenes of the victim’s situation a lot. Almost gave up on the show, and not yet motivated to watch another season.

I wish thriller type shows didn’t so often go to that trope.

Also won’t watch HT on that account–can’t take suffering.

It’s one of the reasons I watch on my IPad. The ability to use my finger to fast forward makes doing so much easier and precise than on a laptop or tv.
