I have no interest in the show even though it’s the sort of thing (celebrity love story,I’d normally like) I think it’s because was born the same year as JFK jr and thus remember the whole relationship but at the time I and most of my friends found Carolyn Bessette to be pretentious. We weren’t interested in her style which was way too WASPY for us “nice Jewish girls”. I was never that interested in them as a couple. As for him, we certainly thought he was cute but he often seemed over confident in his abilities (if you flunked the bar repeatedly we felt, you hadn’t studied enough…..we had all devoted months and months to it). The plane accident while very sad seemed in line with his MO of doing something that he was not prepared for ( flying at night when he wasnt instrument rated they said). That this version trashes Daryl Hannah who I always loved just furthers my disinterest.
I’m watching for now. But TBH, I’m not loving. The Good Wife And The Good Fight were such good shows, and I loved Elsbeth’s character there, but her own show is just too campy - and repetitive - for me.
I’m saving it for later but I loved Matlock last year. Wellbrexa is the weaker part, it’s fine as a thread through the season but not as a main focus. The most interesting part is the relationship between Matty and Olivia.
What BTS?
(I love it when actors and crew get along and cheer on each other like the Pluribus gang does. I don’t like actors who tear each down, not going to give examples
.)
Elsbeth has grown on me. It can get twee or annoying but the actors are excellent.
I also really enjoy Will Trent, don’t mind Brilliant Minds.
Outlander has returned! Final season Clare is supposed to be late 50s- early 60s?
I didn’t like Matlock and stopped watching after 3 or 4 episodes. I did watch those several times thinking I’d missed something, but no, too unrealistic to think an older woman could go to law school and change her name and get hired by a big firm and NO ONE would know.
I watch Elsbeth sometimes, but if something else is on like Thurs night football, I’m not upset if I miss it.
The BTS drama, if I remember correctly, is that the actress who plays Sarah is suing the actor who played Billy for sexual harassment.
David Del Rio (Billy) was escorted off the set and subsequently fired in October following allegations of sexual abuse by Leah Lewis (Sarah). In the show, he is written off after having off-screen accepted a downsizing severance package.
Del Rio has since filed an arbitration claim, in accordance with his contract, against CBS Studios
Thank you. I had no idea. ![]()
Any Yellowstone fans watching Marshals (CBS)? I watched the first 2 episodes and am not impressed. It’s basically a standard CBS police procedural - just set in Montana.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14786934/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk starts tmrw. jamie lee and nicole play sisters
We watched the first episode of Rooster last night. We loved it! We finished Ted Lasso a few weeks ago, and obviously LOVED that. Jamie Tartt is in Rooster BTW. I held off on Apple TV for years, but broke down when there was some movie we wanted to watch, so now we are catching up. We also finished Severance on Sunday. Loved that one too! I was a big Ben Wyatt fan on Parks & Rec - another series we never saw until the last year or so.
We have also started DTF St. Louis, mostly because I love Jason Bateman and David Harbour. It’s good as well. I can foresee a lot of twists and turns.
Ditto, and it is such a disappointment because I really enjoyed her appearances on The Good Wife and The Good Fight. I was looking forward to its premiere from the time that I heard she was getting her own show. But somehow when Elsbeth showed up occasionally on TGW and TGF, watching her was a delight because of the depth and complexity of the rest of the show/characters. Elsbeth also had depth but her character worked because it was a good contrast to Julianna Margulies, Christine Baranski, and others who were also very strong in their own right and I cared about in an ongoing way. Her quirkiness was fun in contrast to their intensity and maybe I liked it because it wasn’t every week.
But Elsbeth as its own show is too lightweight and the other characters just seem unimportant or underdeveloped. I don’t care about her NYC colleagues or son or the guest stars. So then the whole show becomes about Elsbeth being quirky with none of the other characters pulling any weight.
I just finished Death by Lightning–I liked it a lot, lots of good acting jobs. As has been mentioned, it feels a little connected to present day politics. I need to read up on the period now.
Beyond the conflicts of ideals and corruption, and all the machinations of governing, the side theme in the last part about the medical mis-practice was engrossing and angering.
Overall very much recommend. (I had recently heard Nick Offerman discussing the story on a podcast and it reminded me I had planned to watch it.)
Good to hear. It’s on our list of things to watch.
I read many of the Scarpetta books years ago so I was excited to hear a series was coming …but never pictured Nicole Kidman as Scarpetta (I could see Jamie Curtis as her before Kidman). And I am not a huge Nicole Kidman fan, but I did like her as the mom in The Perfect Couple. I will keep an open mind!
I’m watching Scarpetta. I’ve never read the books, so I have no basis to compare as I did with Cross, Bosch, Lincoln Lawyer, etc.
It’s fine, I guess. Fairly typical procedural.
We really liked Bosch. And Bosch Legacy.
Same. It had good mystery plotline (with some nice humor here and there) without being overly confusing. For some shows, when it is all over… my husband and I might be confused on some points (perhaps due to minor editing faults). And minimal bloody/gorey violence.
We’re currently enjoying “Shetland” (on Britbox). Sometimes a bit slow, but nearly always visually gorgeous.
I watched two episodes of “The Pitt” and said nah, too much medical going on, LOL. (I was a hospital pharmacist). But…I went on because I liked the characters from the get-go and lo, I was sucked right in. I just finished the disaster episode. Wow. My stomach was in knots.
Has anyone here watched The leftovers?
