Binge watched tv shows (Part 2)

It’s a warm comforting hug!

None of the women and girls are particularly likeable for me, at least in the beginning. And the whole storyline is a bit implausible.

And when did Matthew Fox get so old-looking?!? I mean, I know he’s 60 and Party of Five is way in the rearview mirror, but he looks 70.

Is Matthew Fox the brother? I don’t know him. It was fun to see Mike from Suits. I think Kurt Russell is such a natural, a fine actor. He makes it look so easy, and you know it’s not.

I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but we did chuckle when they were on the bed watching the end of that movie, one of my favorites of all time.

I’ve watched all but the last episode of Scarpetta, and I’ve read all of Patricia Cornwall’s Scarpetta books. I’ve enjoyed the tv series (the books are better). Nicole Kidman does OK as Kay, but I think Jamie Lee Curtis is amazing as Kay’s sister. The actor who plays the “older” Marino is quite good (Bobby Cannavale)–I didn’t realize until I saw the credits that his son (Jake Cannavale) plays the young Marino. This first season jumps back and forth in time and is based on several of Cornwall’s books–she’s written 29 Scarpetta books.

I started it on my way to Young Sherlock and it’s very gory and graphic for me :skull_and_crossbones::face_with_peeking_eye: but fortunately I was able to skip :grimacing::skull_and_crossbones::face_with_peeking_eye:scenes by 30 second increments.

I actually enjoy going back and forth in time - great care was taken in reproducing 1998, its floppy disks and bulky gray computers, cars, etc. I expected a Dawson Creek or Felicity theme music in the background, and an ANTZ poster on the kid’s bedroom wall.

Jamie Lee Curtis is great as are the daughter and all the young versions of them.
Nicole Kidman does a good enough job since I’d never have portrayed her as Kay Scarpetta and I could buy her as lead medical examiner, though I can’t accept the younger one would be Chief already.

I’m trying to not find out anything about this season till it’s over, at which time I’ll re-up my Apple TV subscription. But it’s really hard to wait!

I’m going to give Scarpetta a try. Somehow I never read the books so am debating whether to read before watching (my typical approach and what I forced on my kiddo).

I went through a JD Robb phase years ago; how does it compare?

I don’t know if this is off topic or not…but for anyone who has binge watched The Pitt…do a Google search for MAHAspital SNL. It was from last night…and it’s quite the spoof.

Oh my.., that’s the lead from LOST! What a shocker, I did not recognize him at all! I think it’s the beard and 20 years difference.

There are 29 books in the Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwall! I read that the series was based on two of the books–Post Mortem and Autopsy.

I’ve read and liked many of the Scarpetta books but don’t remember them being crude which is how the TV series struck me. DH and I abandoned it after beginning the second episode. I do recommend The Night Manager which we returned to (season 2) after ditching Scarpetta.

see my next comment…

I also liked the second season of The Night Manager. But…it’s just so dark and bleak, and Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie) beyond ruthless. No rewatch for me on this one!

We finished Young Sherlock and gave it a C. The first few episodes were intriguing enough but the story and plot got more and more incredulous. Worse, Mycroft, Sherlock and/or Moriaty did not seem to be very smart. A disappointing C from us.

Oopsy… my mistake. We liked “The Night Agent”. Have not seen “The Night Manager”

I love The Night Manger for Tom Huddleston alone, not to mention Olivia Colman and Hugh Laurie and more.

The new Deadlock season has dropped on Prime!
Dulcie, Cath, and Eddie are up in “Australia’s sweaty armpit” as per Eddie, aka Darwin, hoping to investigate what happened to Bushy, Eddies former partner who was not, as previously believed, eaten by a croc.
Cath is all about “living the rich lesbian life” in their nice camper, Dulcie is all about “investigating the missing Swedish backpackers”, and Eddie is all “I can’t stand this place, let’s get out of here”. Shenanigans involving crocodiles and tourists ensue.
Warning: it’s laced with profanities.
